Abstract
A deformable toy 10 includes a hollow elastic body 12 which can be turned inside out. The toy body has its inside 16 and outside 14 formed with configurations patterns or colours different from each other (as shown, representing an egg and a monster). An opening 18 permits the turning inside out. <IMAGE>
Description
DEFORMABLE TOY BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
This invention relates to a deformable toy, and more particularly to a reversible toy which is adapted to be deformed or turned inside out to exhibit two different appearances.
Description of the Prior Art
A deformable or reversible toy is broadly popular among children because of its ability to amuse due to deformation or turning inside out. A conventional deformable toy consists of a plurality of movable members and is adapted to move the movable members in predetermined directions to carry out its deformation. Accordingly, the conventional deformable toy has the disadvantages of being complicated in structure and troublesome to handle.
Accordingly, it would be highly desirable to develop a deformable toy which is capable of being readily deformed by a simple operation and which is simple to handle.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Generally speaking, in accordance with the present invention, a deformable or reversible toy is provided. The deformable toy includes a reversible hollow toy body formed of an elastic material. The toy body has both sides formed so as to have appearances or designs different from each other. Also, the toy body is formed with an opening through which both sides of the toy body are communicated with each other and the toy body is reversed or turned inside out.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a deformable toy which has a simple structure.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a deformable toy which is capable of being readily deformed by a simple operation.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a deformable toy which is uniquely interesting.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a deformable toy which is capable of being deformed to exhibit two different appearances or designs.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a deformable toy which cannot be easily damaged.
Still other objects and advantages of the invention will in part be obvious and will in part be apparent from the specification.
The invention accordingly comprises the features of construction, combination of elements, and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter set forth, and the scope of the invention will be indicated in the claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
For a fuller understanding of the invention, reference is had to the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings; wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing one side or an outer side of an embodiment of a deformable toy according to the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the bottom of the one side of the deformable toy shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the deformable toy shown in Fig. 1 while in the process of deforming;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the other side or an inner side of the deformable toy of Fig. 1 in which deformation has been completed; and
Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view of a deformable toy shown in Fig. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Now, a deformable toy according to the present invention will be described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figs. 1 to 4 show an embodiment of a deformable toy according to the present invention, wherein a deformable toy of the illustrated embodiment is generally designated by reference numeral 10. The deformable toy 10 includes a toy body 12 formed of an elastic material into a hollow shape so as to be reversible. The deformable toy 10 is adapted to exhibit two different appearances or designs by reversing or turning inside out. In the illustrated embodiment, the deformable toy 10 is adapted to exhibit two different appearances or configurations. More particularly, the deformable toy 10 is so constructed that reversing or turning inside out may cause one side or an outer side thereof to exhibit an appearance or configuration of a monstrous beast 14 and the other side or an inner side thereof to exhibit an appearance or configuration of an egg 16.However, the deformable toy 10 is not limited to a variation between the configurations described above. Both sides may be formed into animal-like configurations different from each other.
Further, the deformable toy 10 is not limited to such a variation in configuration. For example, it may be so constructed that it may exhibit two different patterns or colors due to deformation.
The toy body 12 is formed at a bottom thereof with an opening 18 through which one side of the toy body is communicated with the other side. Reversing or turning inside out of the deformable toy 10 is carried out through the opening 18. The toy body 12 is made of a deformable elastic material as described above. In the illustrated embodiment, it is made of an elastic material mainly consisting of a block copolymer of ethylene, styrene and butylene. The elastic material also may contain liquid paraffin which acts as a plasticizer.
Now, the manner of operation of the deformable toy 10 of the illustrated embodiment constructed as described above will be described hereinafter with reference to Figs. 1 to 5.
Supposing that the deformable toy 10 is in the form of the monstrous beast 14 as shown in Fig. 1, the toy body 12 is first depressed to enlarge the opening 18 as indicated at phantom lines in Fig. 5, to thereby draw out the other side or reverse side through the opening 18 as shown in Figs. 3 and 5. This causes the other side or inner side of the toy body 12 to be exposed, resulting in the deformable toy 10 being deformed into a configuration of the egg 16 as shown in Fig. 4.
As described above, the deformable toy 10 of the illustrated embodiment includes the reversible hollow toy body 12 which is so constructed that one side has a configuration of the monstrous beast 14 and the other side has that of the egg 16. Thus, it will be noted that the deformable toy 12 provides children with a uniquely interesting toy. Also, the toy body 12 of the deformable toy 10 may be made of an elastic material mainly consisting of a block copolymer of ethylene, styrene and butylene, and liquid paraffin serving as a plasticizer. This causes the deformable toy 10 to be readily deformed and prevents damage of the toy due to application of excessive force thereto during deformation.
