Abstract

A combined form set and envelope therefor includes a front sheet (12), a back sheet (13) and a plurality of intermediate sheets (14a, 14b, 14c). The front and back sheets are secured directly together along one pair of opposite edges and all the sheets are adhesively joined together along the other pair of opposite edges. Adjacent one of these edges, each of the sheets is perforated to form a tear-off stub allowing access to the intermediate sheets. The lines of perforation are progressively closer to this edge from the front intermediate sheet to the back sheet, thereby exposing each intermediate sheet to view for individual extraction once the stub has been torn off. <IMAGE>

Description

COMBINED FORM AND CONTAINER THEREFOR This invention relates to a combined form set and container therefor.

It is an object of the invention to provide a combined form set and container therefor, in which the forms are well protected by the container, but are readily extractable one-by-one once the container has been opened.

A combined form set and container therefor, according to the invention, comprises rectangular front and back sheets and a plurality of intermediate sheets interposed between said front and back sheets, all of the sheets being connected together by adhesive along two opposite edges of the set and the front and back sheets being joined directly together along the other two opposite edges thereof, and each of the sheets being formed with a line of weakening along a line adjacent one of said first-mentioned opposite edges, such lines being at different distances from said one of said first-mentioned edges, so that when the container formed by said front and back edges is opened by tearing off the stub formed by said lines of weakening, the remaining individual intermediate sheets are progressively longer through the set from front to back.

The front sheet may be of transparent material, in which case the lines of weakening therein and in the uppermost intermediate sheet may be at the same distance from said one of said first-mentioned edges or the line of weakening in said uppermost intermediate sheet may be further from such edge than the line of weakening in the top sheet.

An example of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a diagrammatic sectional view through a combined form set and container therefor; Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2 in Figure 1; Figure 3 is a fragmentary section on line 3-3 in Figure 1; and Figure 4 is a diagrammatic perspective view showing the container opened to expose the form set.

Figure 1 shows the combined form set and container whilst it is still combined with further forms before separation of the container and its contents from such further forms. In Figures 1 and 2 a cross indicates a connection between sheets and a dot a line of weakening. In the complete assembly shown in Figure 1 two overlying sheets 10, 11 are included and these are connected to one another at both ends. The container referred to is formed by a front sheet 12 lying immediately behind sheet 11 and a back sheet 13.

Several intermediate sheets 14a, 14b and 14C are disposed between these front and back sheets and, as shown in Figure 3, these are cut away along two opposite edges so that the front and back sheets can be directly connected together. Each of the intermediate sheets is connected by adhesive strips 15 (see Figure 3).

Thus the container 12, 13 which can be removed from the sheets 10, 11 is completely closed around all four edges and encloses the intermediate sheets very effectively.

However, a line of weakening 12a is formed along the front sheet 12 at a position adjacent, but spaced from one of the edges along which the adhesive strips 15 lie.

A similar line of weakening is formed in the back sheet at a position closer to this same edge. Each of the sheets 14a to 14c has a line of weakening at a different distance from this same edge.

In the example shown, the front sheet 12 is formed of a transparent thermoplastic sheet and the back sheet 13 is formed of, or coated with, similar material so that these two sheets can be joined directly together by heat sealing rather than by adhesive if required. The back sheet 13 may be coated with pressure sensitive adhesive and covered by a protective layer in known manner.

The line of weakening in the front sheet 12 is nearer the edge mentioned than that in the uppermost intermediate sheet.

When it is required to gain access to the forms in the container formed by the front and back sheets, the stub formed by the adhesive interconnection of the various sheets along the edge mentioned, can be torn off, leaving the intermediate sheets with their remaining edges staggered so that each intermediate sheet can be seen and selected by a user for independent extraction.

Claims

1. A combined form set and container therefor, comprising rectangular front and back sheets and a plurality of intermediate sheets interposed between said front and back sheets, all of the sheets being connected together by adhesive along two opposite sheets of the set and the front and back sheets being joined directly together along the other two opposite edges thereof, and each of the sheets being formed with a line of weakening along a line adjacent one of said first-mentioned opposite edges, such lines being at different distances from said one of said first-mentioned edges, so that when the container formed by said front and back edges is opened tearing off the stub formed by said lines of weakening, the remaining individual intermediate sheets are progressively longer through the set from front to back.

2. A combined form set and container as claimed in claim 1 in which said front sheet is formed of transparent material.

3. A combined form set and container as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 in which the backsheet is coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive and covered by a peelable protective layer.

4. A combined form set and container therefor substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
