Abstract

A packet (6) of cigarette papers having adhesive means (16) for enabling the packet (6) to be secured in position on a tobacco pouch (2). The adhesive means comprises a strip or separate pads. The packet can, alternatively, be located on the flap (20). The invention also relates to the combination of a packet of cigarette papers when adhered to a tobacco pouch. <IMAGE>

Description

A PACKET OF CIGARETTE PAPERS This invention relates to a packet of cigarette papers.
Tobacco pouches are well known. They are usually in the form of a wallet and they are also usually sold with tobacco in them from tobacconists and other shops. The tobacco pouches are of course used by persons rolling their own cigarettes and, in order for the persons to roll their own cigarettes, they need a packet of cigarette papers. Persons rolling their own cigarettes invariably put the packet of cigarette papers into the tobacco pouch along with the tobacco. Moisture in the tobacco causes the papers to stick together and this can be annoying to persons rolling their own cigarettes as the papers paper pull out of the cigarette/packet in a concertina fashion. If the cigarette papers do not pull out in a concertina fashion then they stick to the actual packet, which is equally annoying. In addition to the problem of sticking cigarette papers, there occurs the further problem that the packet of cigarette papers tends to get covered in tobacco. As the papers are pulled out, tobacco also gets pulled out and it usually falls on the floor. This is both messy and wasteful.
Persons rolling their own cigarettes tend to put up with the above disadvantages because they require their packet of cigarette papers to be conveniently on hand when they wish to roll a cigarette and so they store it in the tobacco pouch as mentioned above.
It would be a very considerable advantage if the above problems could be avoided or reduced, whilst continuing to provide persons rolling their own cigarettes with the convenience of having their packet of cigarette papers readily to hand. It is an aim of the present invention to provide a packet of cigarette papers which enables this.
Accordingly, this invention provides a packet of cigarette papers having adhesive means for enabling the packet of cigarette papers to be secured in position on a tobacco pouch.
Preferably, the adhesive means is a strip of adhesive.
However, if desired, the adhesive means may be two or more separate pads of adhesive.
Preferably, the adhesive means is protected by a peel-off cover. This avoids premature sticking of the packet of cigarette papers to objects.
Apart from the provision of the adhesive means, the packet of cigarette papers can be any known packet of cigarette papers. Thus the packet of cigarette papers and the actual cigarette papers can be produced in any known manner. All that will be necessary is for the adhesive means to be appropriately provided on the packet of cigarette papers.
The present invention also extends to the combination of the packet of cigarette papers when provided on a tobacco pouch.
The tobacco pouch can be any known type of tobacco pouch.
The tobacco pouch will usually be made of a plastics material but other materials may be employed, for example leather, if desired. The tobacco pouch will usually be sold with tobacco in it but the present invention also extends to a packet of cigarette papers when secured by the adhesive means on to an empty tobacco pouch.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a tobacco pouch; Figure 2 shows a packet of cigarette papers in accordance with the invention; and Figure 3 is an end view of the packet of cigarette papers shown in Figure 2.
Referring to Figure 1, there is shown a tobacco pouch 2 comprising a compartment 4 for tobacco. The tobacco pouch 2 is shown provided with a packet 6 of cigarette papers.
The packet 6 of cigarette papers is shown most clearly in Figures 2 and 3. As can be seen, the packet 6 of cigarette papers is of standard construction having a slot 8 through which individual cigarette papers 10 are sequentially obtainable. The packet 6 has a flap 12 which normally folds over the slot 8 to protect the cigarette papers 10.
As shown in Figure 3, the base 14 of the packet 6 of cigarette papers is provided with adhesive means in the form of an adhesive strip 16. The adhesive strip 16 is protected by a peel-off cover 18. In Figure 3, for ease of illustration, the thickness of the adhesive strip 16 and the thickness of the peel-off cover 18 have been exaggerated. Once the peel-off cover 18 is removed, the adhesive strip 16 can be employed to secure the packet 6 of cigarette papers in the position shown in Figure 1 on the tobacco pouch 2. Thus the adhesive strip 16 enables the packet 6 of cigarette papers conveniently to be positioned wherever desired on the tobacco pouch 2.This avoids the need to place the packet 6 of cigarette papers inside the compartment 4 where moisture from the tobacco in the compartment 4 will cause the cigarette papers 1Q to stick together or to stick to the packet 6. Furthermore, in the illustrated position, the packet 6 is always readily available and there is no need for tobacco spillage as would occur if the packet 6 of cigarette papers were having constantly to be removed from the compartment 4 in order to obtain the cigarette papers 10 for the purpose of rolling cigarettes.
It is to be appreciated that the embodiment of the invention described above with reference to the accompanying drawings has been given by way of example only and that modifications may be effected. Thus, for example, the single adhesive strip 16, which may extend substantially the entire length of the packet 8 of cigarette papers, may be smaller or it may be replaced by two separate adhesive pads (not shown).
Furthermore, the packet 6 of cigarette papers can be positioned at any desired place on the tobacco pouch 2, for example on the flap 20.
It is envisaged that the packet of cigarette papers may be sold under the trade mark NOCON GOLD.
