Abstract
The moveable protector shield has a main body (2) to protect an item from damage, while the rubber straps (3) cushion the external force against the item. The plastic chains (9) are attached when using the shield as a bollard to cordon off an area. The warning light (8) will flash on and off to mark the area being cordened off, the base (I) is shapped in this way to allow the shield to fit around the item it is protecting. The main body (2) has a self adhesive warning tape (II) also as a safety element there is a rubber strip around the edge of the main body. <IMAGE>
Description
MOVEABLE PROTECTOR ShIELD (Named Flexitec)
This invension relates to a moveable protector shield, which shall have the name of "Flexitec."
Related Background.
protector guards are well knoni commodity throughout industry.
The moveable protector shield has the same applications as the conventional protector guara with variations that will be stated further in this ap-lication.
Conventional protector guards, in general terms, comprise of metal square tubing or single flat barriers bolted or cemented to the floor, their application and usage throughout industry is varied.
The purpose of the guard in the warehousing industry is usually to protect goods placed on the ground or to protect shelving systems from collisions by forklift trucks and similar vehicles.
Their are two basic important advantages to the moveable protector shield over the conventional protector guard in the warehousing industry and they are:
VERSATILITY
Shelving system layouts for many reasons are continually being changed. The conventional protector shield is either quite permanently held in place with concrete or firmly screwea to the grouna. This causes great inconveniance and difficulty in fitting the protector guard and also, if at all being able, to change the siting o the protector guard to the necessary allocation.
(Versatility continued on page 2) (Versatility continued)
The moveable protector shield, whalst also neld filly in lace with strong rubber straps when in use in one position, can witn no inconvenience at all be moved, at any time, to another allocation, simply b unhooking three rubber straps. This is also of a great advantage in the need to temporarily cordon of areas for many reasons.
COST
The conventional protector shield is relatively expensive and costly to fit. The cost also of the need to purchase and fit additional protector guards for all areas of the warehouse, because of the impracticability of moving the protector guard when an area is not in use. If an attempt is made to move the protector guard, because of difficulty of movement, it could result in expensive damage or even the added cost of replacement.
The moveable protector shield is relatively inexpensive to purchase and cost notning to lit, also if the area of use changes in the warehouse, it would not be necessary to purchase additional shields as it can be easily moved from the area of inactivity and no cost incurred as it has been designed for versatility, strength and ease of movement.
The present invention comprises of a base, horse shoe shaped, and a body, crescent moon shaped. The body is attached to the base and stands upright, when put into position protects goods and various stacking systems from potential damage.
A specific entocimert of the invention will now oe described by wy of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Figure one Shows, in perspective, the moveable protector shield stands upright, as it would be, when in position for the purpose of which it was designed.
Referring to the drawing the bo (2) is welded to the base (I) and then six 'Spot Nuts' (t) are swot welded into position, three on each side of the body. After this the whole construction will be painted and a rubber buffer edging (3) will be attached. Three elastic rubber straps (5) will be attached and held Into position by a clip (4) which are replaceable if broken or ca-aa. Three strips of sticky tape (II) with black and yellow cheverons are next stuck to the body as a safety warning, and loops (IO) are screwed into spot nuts (6). Plastic chains (9) can be attached to the loops (IO) so that areas can be cordened off and a bracket (7) holding a light (8) will flash amber warning of the area closure. Components (7), (8) and (9) will be supplied as accessories.
Claims (1)
- CLAIMS.(I) The moveable protector shield has a base on which it stands, shaped like a "horse shoe". Attached to that base is the main body. The main body is "semi-circular" and along with the base shaped as previously mentioned, the moveable protector shield can be place in position so that what it is protecting can be kept within the confines of the body.(Claims continued on page 4) (Claims continued) (2) The moveable protector shield as claimed in (I) has a rubber edging on the corners of te main body so that the ite-s being protected is not damaged by the bare edges of the main. body.(3) The moveable protector shield as claimed in I and 2 have three heavy duty elasticated bands round the main body and across the opening of the semi-circular shape to give cushioning to the items being protected. These are replaceable if worn or broken.(4) The moveable protector shield as claimed in I,2 and 3 have three threaded holes on either side of the body for the attachment of loops and subsequently plastic chains so that areas can be cordon off with a shield at each corner post.(5) The moveable protector shield as claimed in I,2,3 and 4 has an attachment for the placement of an amber flashing light, to be used when warning of danger e.g. when cordening off areas as claimed in (4).(6) The moveable protector shield as claimed in I,2,3,4 and 5 has a safety warning chevron in the form of sticky tape, arround the main body to warn of danger.(Claims continued on page 5) (Claims continued) (7) The moveable protector shiela as claimed in I,2,3,4,5 and 6 is painted all over to protect against damage or corrosion.
