Abstract

A holder (1) for a writing pad (2) in which the individual sheets (3) of the pad bear repositionable adhesive (4) and have a rear support sheet (5) comprises a sheet of board (6) carrying on its front face a sheet (7) of plastics or leather material and bearing on its rear face a sheet of non-slip material. The front sheet (7) is in two parts (7a, 7b) between which the rear support sheet (5) is received. <IMAGE>

Description

IMPROVEMENTS IN WRITING PAD HOLDERS This invention has reference to writing pad holders and has particular reference to writing pad holders for use in writing pads of the kind which are used for example for receiving messages and passing them on to the person they are addressed to. The pads are made up of a plurality of message sheets of identical size and format and each sheet has on its reverse face preferably at the top of the sheet an area of repositionable adhesive. The use of such adhesive enables the uppermost sheet of the pad to be removed from the pad and applied to a separate backing sheet or other support which may be a letter sheet or the like so that the message is received by the recipient. These writing pads such as sold under the Trade Mark NOTE STIX bearing repositionable adhesive are secured by the repositionable adhesive on the rear face of the rearmost sheet to a sheet of cardboard or the like to add some rigidity to the writing pad. Such pads of sheets bearing repositionable adhesive are very satisfactory in many respects but suffer the disadvantage that it is difficult t9 record notes on such pads without a writing surface as a table or desk. It is also found to be difficult to locate these writing pads on a desk.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved holder for writing pads more especially for writing pads of the kind where the sheets bear repositionable adhesive.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a writing pad holder which will enable a message to be recorded on the writing pad while holding the pad in one hand and writing with the other hand. Such a writing pad holder should be portable but not slidable on a desk during the writing operation.
According to the present invention a writing pad holder more especially intended for use with a writing pad in which the individual sheets "of the writing pad bear repositionable adhesive and have a rear support sheet comprises a sheet of board slightly in excess of the size of the writing pad and carrying on its face a sheet of plastics or leather material and bearing on its rear face a sheet of non-slip material and reinforced at its corners by reinforcing strips and wherein the front sheet of the material applied to the front of the holder is in two parts between which the rear support sheet is received.A writing pad holder in accordance with the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein; Fig. 1 is a front view of the writing pad holder with a writing pad applied thereto Fig. 2 is a rear view of the writing pad holder and Fig.3 is a sectional side view taken on the line III-III of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings there is shown a writing pad holder 1 associated with a writing pad 2. The writing pad comprises a plurality of identical sheets 3 for recording office messages etc. as may be required. Each sheet of the pad bears on the upper end of its rear face an area of repositionable adhesive 4 extending across the top of the sheet. The rear sheet of the writing pad 2 is secured by the repositionable adhesive on the rear sheet of the pad to a support sheet 5 (Fig. 3) of cardboard and of the same size as the individual sheet of the pad which are all of the same size.
The holder 1 comprises a supporting of board material 6 with a sheet 7 of polyvinyl chloride or other plastics material or leather or the like secured to the board as by adhesive. The plastics or leather material may be printed or embossed with for example personalised information or advertising material as may be desired. The sheet 7 is formed in two parts 7a, 7b both of which extend across the sheet from side to side of the sheet with the sheet 7b over the sheet 7a. These parts 7a, 7b are so provided that the rear support sheet of the pad may be located behind the lower part 7b of the sheet to locate the pad with respect to the pad holder. If the pad is regarded as shown in Fig. 1 the divide between the two parts is regarded as being horizontal. The sheet may also bear personalized information, for example the name of a company presenting the pad holder to its customers or prospective customers, or the name of a recipient. The rear face of the board support material is covered with a sheet 9 of non-slip manmade plastics material. The sheet material may be of the kind sometimes referred to as a velour. The corners of the holder are reinforced by reinforcing L-shaped corner strips 10 positioned at each corner of the holder. The L-shaped strips are formed from an L-shaped plate with the outer corner joining the two limb parts of the L, cut away so that the limb parts may be folded over to reinforce the corners. These strips are of metal but may be of other materials for example of plastics.
When it is desired to use the writing pad with the holder the rear card support sheet 5 for the pad is inserted between the two parts of sheet 7 in the pad holder and the pad is positioned on the holder. When it is required to take a note the pad may be written on either by holding the pad in the hand or by laying the pad and holder on the desk. It will be appreciated that the holder rear sheet is held away from the desk by the thickness of the reinforcing corner strips but these strips are of sufficient thickness so that the pad is sufficiently supported by the writing pressure of the writer to cause the rear sheet 9 of non slip material to contact the desk and because the sheet is of non-slip material this serves to hold the pad on the desk during writing.
