Abstract

Computer stationery comprises a tear-off part (7), such as a remittance advice, in which the tear-off part is associated with a further detachable portion (9) prepared for use as an address label. The address label may thus have a space for the address to be pre-printed or to be computer printed during preparation as required. Also, the label may incorporate a company logo or other advertising material. The address label may be self-adhesive and protected by a peelable backing layer. <IMAGE>

Description

COMPUTER STATIONERY This invention relates to computer stationery, and more particularly, but not solely to computer stationery of which a part has to be detached and returned to the originator, such as a remittance advice on an invoice.
The addressing of envelopes for remittance advices is a chore which may delay payment of invoices, and also errors may creep in, particularly if the work is being done under pressure, eg to meet a posting deadline.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided computer stationery comprising a tear-off part, such as a remittance advice, in which the tear-off part is associated with a further detachable portion prepared for use as an address label.
The address label may thus have a space for the address to be pre-printed or to be computer printed during preparation as required. Also, the label may incorporate a company logo or other advertising material.
It is preferred if the address label may be self-adhesive and protected by a peel able backing layer.
It will be seen that the recipient of the invoice will thus be provided with a ready-made address label for remitting the payment and remittance advice, and that this will also, in some cases provide some advertising by displaying the payees logo on the outside of the payers envelope.
The invention will be further described with reference to the accompanying single figure of drawing, which is an elevation of a single sheet of computer stationery in accordance with the present invention.
The drawing shows one sheet of continuous computer stationery, with the usual pin drive holes 1 in strips 2 detachable along lines 3 of perforations. The top and bottom edges 4 and 5 are also originally attached by lines of perforations to the adjacent sheets. As illustrated, the sheet comprises an invoice portion 6 and a remittance advice portion 7 detachable therefrom by tearing along the line 8 of perforations.
In accordance with the teaching of the present invention, there is provided tear-off address label 9 detachable from the remittance advice by tearing along a line 11 of perforations.
The position of the return address, which may be pre-printed or printed during the preparation of the invoice, is indicated at 12, and a possible position for a company logo or other identification is shown at 13.
The address label may be provided, during manufacture of the stationery, with -a layer of contract adhesive, covered with a peel able protective sheet, on the rear side. Apart from this optional feature, the only other additional manufacturing step required is the provision of the line 11 of perforations.
Various modifications may be made within the scope of the invention.

Claims (6)

1. Computer stationery comprising a tear-off part, such as a remittance advice, in which the tear-off part is associated with a further detachable portion prepared for use as an address label.
2. Computer stationery according to claim 1, in which the address label has a space for the address to be pre-printed.
3. Computer stationery according to claim 1, in which the label is computer printed during preparation as required.
4. Computer stationery according to any preceding claim, in which the label incorporates a company logo or other advertising material.
5. Computer stationery according to any preceding claim, in which the address label is self-adhesive and protected by a peel able backing layer.
6. Computer stationery substantially as hereinbefore described with respect to the accompanying drawings.
