Abstract
Apparatus and method of mounting one or more secondary barriers, such as electrifiable barriers, adjacent a primary barrier, such as a dry stone wall comprises locating a plurality of elongate, tubular members (1) at positions along the length of the wall and extending therethrough. The secondary barrier(s) may then be attached to the ends of the members (1). The members (1) are preferably of insulating material and are secured in position by means of clamps (2 and 3). <IMAGE>
Description
SUPPORT/INSULATOR COMBINED
SUPPORT/ INSULATOR DETACHABLE
SYSTEMS 1. This invention relates to the support and insulation, especially but not exclu
sively, for use with an electrifiable barrier or multiples of electrifiable barriers.
2. BACKGROUND: Conventionally an electric scare barrier is supported through
separate insulators secured to stakes driven into the ground wherever neces
sary along one side of an existing barrier - to support and position the electrifi
able barrier.
3. A function of this invention is to support and insulate an electrifiable barrier
alongside another barrier.
4. Embodiments of this invention are described by way of drawings ( figures 1, 2,
3).
5. FIGURE 1 Shows the Support/Insulator in one application, as member 1.
FIGURE 2 Shows one possible dimension of a clamp, incorporated in
Figure 1 at 2 and 3.
FIGURE 3 Shows one possible shaping of the Support/Insulator, and posi
tioning of a securing device.
6 A written description of one possible design and function of this invention
suitably shaped material is passed through the width of a barrier (in this
example a mortarless wall is used), to support and insulate an electrifiable
barrier, on one or both sides of an existing barrier.
Clamps may be secured over one or each end of the Support/Insulator, to fix
the Support Insulator in position.
7. A suitable securing device (in this example a nail is used) may be used to fix an
electrifiable barrier to the Support/Insulator. At figure 3 detail B.
8. Support/lnsulators are placed through the width of a barrier - as explained
wherever necessary to support/insulate an electrifiable barrier in a suitable
position (in this example a single wire is used).
9. Separate insulators may be attached to the support to allow varying lengths of
the support.
Claims (14)
1. Apparatus for supporting at least a first secondary barrier adjacent a primary barrier, comprising at least one elongate member adapted to extend through said primary barrier and clamping means adapted to engage said elongate member at first and second points adjacent said primary barrier and on either side thereof so as to prevent movement of said elongate member when in position, said elongate member being further provided with means for supporting said first secondary barrier on one side of said primary barrier and spaced outwardly therefrom.
2. Apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein means are provided for supporting first and second secondary barriers on either side of said primary barrier.
3. Apparatus as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein said elongate member is formed from electrically insulating material.
4. Apparatus as claimed in claim 3 wherein said first and second secondary barriers are electrifiable barriers.
5. Apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim wherein said elongate member is a generally tubular member.
6. Apparatus as claimed in claim 5 wherein said supporting means comprises a transverse aperture extending through said member and a transverse slit extending downwardly through said member to communicate with said aperture, into which a portion of said secondary barrier may be inserted.
7. Apparatus as claimed in claim 6 further including fixing means for securing said secondary barrier in position en located in said supporting means, ç rising a second elongate member which may be inserted into the end of said tubular member between said portion of said secondary barrier and a wall of said tubular member.
8. Apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim wherein said clamping means comprises a generally plantar member having an aperture formed therein, through which said elongate memeber may pass and which is an interference fit therewith.
9. Apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim wherein means are provided for selectively varying the length of said elongate member.
10. A method of mounting at least a first secondary barrier adjacent to a primary barrier comprising the steps of locating one or more elongate members so as to extend through said primary barrier at points along the length thereof, said elongate members in position, and attaching said secondary barrier thereto.
11. A method as claimed in claim 10 wherein a single secondary barrier is attached to said elongate members on either side of said primary barrier.
12. A method as claimed in claim 10 wherein a plurality of secondary barriers are attached to said elongate members on one or both sides of said primary barrier.
13. Apparatus for supporting a secondary barrier adjacent a primary barrier substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the drawings.
14. A method of mounting a secondary barrier adjacent a primary barrier substantially as hereinbefore described.
