Description
APPARATUS FOR PREDICTING ASTROLOGICAL HOROSCOPES
The invention relates to apparatus for predicting astrological horoscopes.
There is an increasing interest in all forms of self-determination and expression as a result of which interest in horoscopes and their casting has increased too. The western or solar astrological horoscope is cast from a knowledge of the positions of the sun and planets (excluding earth) at the time of birth of the sitter. However, these sun and planetary positions are calculated in a relatively complex manner from various aspects so that the casting of the horoscope and odiac are time-consuming, and has therefore not been readily available to those uninitiated in what is perceived to be an esoteric art.
Accordingly, it is an object of the invention to seek to overcome this disadvantage and provide an apparatus which is relatively simple to use, to cast an astrological horoscope.
According to the invention there is provided apparatus for providing astrological horoscopes, comprising a circular representation of the signs of the Zodiac, each of which has indicia representing the character of the particular sign, means adapted for indicating the position of the planets, a plurality of removable means representing each planetand adapted for cooperation with the planetary position indicating means, a first transparent device defining a circular pattern divided into twelve equal sections representing the astrological houses, and a further transparent device defining a datum from which planetary aspects can be ascertained.
The may comprise a circular board and the planetary position indicating means may comprise a series of holes in-the surface of the board on which the signs of the Zodiac are represented and in which the removable means can be received.
The holes may be arranged in concentric circles at 50 intervals.
There may be three concentric circles of holes.
The first transparent device may be a circular disc.
The second transparent device may be a circular disc.
The twelve equal sections of the first transparent device may have indicia corresponding to the indicia of the board.
The indicia of both the board and the disc may be respective colours each representing a particular quality of a sign.
The datum may comprise segments of a circle.
The board may have a central boss defining an axis and the first and further transparent devices may have complementary means for rotation about the axis.
The means may comprise an upstanding pin and the complementary means may comprise a central hole through which the pin can project.
The apparatus may be put up for sale or stored in a box which may also include an ephemeris or celestial almanac, and charts for recording planetary positions.
Apparatus embodying the invention is hereinafter described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a board according to the invention;
Fig. la is a perspective view of a planet;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of a first transparent device or wheel of life disc;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of a second transparent device or aspect finder;
Fig. 4 shows schematically a plan view of form of use with the apparatus; and
Fig-. 5 shows schematically a plan view of another form for use with the apparatus.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown apparatus 1 for providing astrological horoscopes, comprising a circular representation of the signs of the Zodiac in the form of a board 2, each of which signs has indicia 3 representing the character of the particular sign, means 4 for indicating the position of the planets, a plurality of removable means 5 representing each planet (of which only one, Mercury is shown in Fig. la) and adapted for cooperating with the planetary position indicating means 4, which are in the form of three concentric series of holes, each hole in each circle being spaced angularly by an angle of 5 from an adjacent hole. The apparatus 1 also includes a first transparent device 6 in the form of a circular plastic disc which defines a circular pattern divided into twelve equal sections or segments 7 representing the astrological houses, and a further transparent device in the form of a plastic disc 8 defining a datum 9 from which planetary aspects can be ascertained.
The Zodiacal signs are associated with the elements fire, air, earth and water, so the indicia 3 are colours which reflect the element and the character or quality of the sign, for example true primary colours for the cardinal signs. Darker colours for fixed signs, lighter colours for mutable signs. Appropriate colours for those signs associated with water.
The board 2 has each Zodiacal sign written at its circumference in a 300 segment 10, every degree being indicated, with the sign symbol 11.
The board 2 has a central boss 12 with an axis in the form of an upstanding pin 13 which can be received in acorresponding hole 14 in the centre of the two discs 6 and 8.
The disc 7 is divided into twelve segments 7 too, and each one has a colour in a band 15 corresponding to the respective colours of the board 2, one of the segmented dividing lines having an indicator in the form of an arrow 16, and each segment 7 being numbered, 17, to correspond with the twelve astrological houses.
The disc 8 has a datum in the form of 4 sections of a circle separated by 600, 300, 300 and 600, with a 5 spread indicated at each section line by dashed lines 18, to indicate planetary aspects.
In order to cast a horoscope using the apparatus 1, the caster ascertains from an ephemeris the exact celestial position of the sun and the nine planets excluding earth at the time and place of birth of the sitter. The planets 5 are then placed at the appropriate places on the board hy inserting their pegs in the outer holes 4. If two planets are on the same place, the second one is placed in the inner circle, or on the innermost one if more than one is in confluence.
The planetary position can be indicated on the appropriate part of the form, Fig. 4.
The first disc 6 is then placed on the board by inserting the pin 13 in the hole 14, and the disc is rotated so that the arrow 16 is aligned with the ascendant of the birth sign, for example if the ascendant is at 150 of Gemini, the arrow is aligned with 15 of
Gemini at the circumference of the board. The houses are then read off anti-clockwise and the position of the planets, which are still on the board, are viewed and noted on the form, Fig. 4, Fig.
5, likewise, the aspect finder disc 8 is placed on the board and rotated to line up the line 1 with the sun on the horoscope. If a planet is situated 5 either side of the number 1 line, indicated by the dashed lines 18, a conjunction occurs. This is noted.
Then any planets within Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 positions are noted, on the form, Fig. 5.
In this way a complete horoscope can be built up for each individual and, using an appropriate manual, the horoscope can be read.
The apparatus is readily dismantled for use again for another sitter.
Transits are the planets moving through the constellations (or Zodiac signs). As the planets move in their orbits in the heavens, they activate planets of our horoscopes.
For example, if the planet Jupiter in the heavens is at 200 of Libra and your Mercury and Venus occupies the 20th degree of Libra, Jupiter in the heavens will have a Xtrlggeringw effect upon your Mercury and Venus,
So, as planets above move in their orbits through the constellations of the Zodiac, they activate the planets of your horoscope accordingly. The planets above are called planets in transit (transit meaning travelling).
The result of any transiting planet influencing your horoscope will depend upon: 1. The nature of the natal planet, on your horoscope, that
is being activated by the transiting planet.
2. The nature of the transiting planet.
3. If the natal planet that is being influenced by transit has any aspects to other natal planets on the natal horoscope.
4. If the natal planet is apectedby the transiting the planet
natally. If so, the strength of the transiting planet
would be more powerful and noticeable, i.e. Gloon at 280
Cancer and Pluto at 260 o; Libra natally. The Noon and 280 of Scorpio will be in No.4 aspect to the natal
Moon. As natal Moon and natal Pluto form an aspect on the birth horoscope, the transit from Pluto to the natal Moon would have a powerful effect.
Look in the Ephemeris for the day, month and year you want to find out about (you can look at past transits or those that will occur in the future). Note the planets positions. Taking the smaller 10 planets (which have no symbols), place them aligning the central line to the correct sign and degree on your
Astrodial with your own 10 planets and M.C. (which are all correctly positioned) according to the degree and signs indicated in the Ephemeris.
Check to make sure you have made no mistakes. When you are sure you have not - carry on. There are now 20 planets in position, the larger ones are your (or another's) birth or natal planets1 the smaller are the transiting planets.
Place the Wheel of Life on the Astrodial, according to your Ascendant. You can see which planets are transiting (or moving through) which of the twelve houses of your horoscope.
Planets are explained earlier - here is a reminder of two of them, .g. SATURN r contraction, limitation, effort, discipline, structure, etc. JUPITER r Expansion, hope, faith, optimism, etc.
Link the meaning of the House to that of the Planet andit Wfi1keunderstsod how a planet is likely to express its qualities according to the House it is in.
The planets have both negative and positive qualities (as dothe Signs).
Consider a transit of Jupiter through the second House (the
Second House is associated with securitv and material matters.
Jupiter is expansive, and generally brings happy events, pleasantness and well-being), Jupiter in the Second House could therefore bring material expansion, more money, better security, etc., OR could create problems - whereby the positivity and expansion of Jupiter could encourage any basic tendency to extravagance, foolish optimism, over expansion, etc.
Therefore, look to the basic horoscope and the tendencies therein, ;hen Jecidin how a planet transit a louse will manifest itself, i.e. a fundamentally extravagant person with astrological factors that suggest extravagance, maybe with difficult aspects between could respond negatively to Jupiter in the Second House, perhaps even incurring debt and disaster. A more prudent person would gain and benefit from Jupiter's transit of the Second
House. So, you link Planet/House meanings to get an idea of the transit of a planet in house as it applies to your life in very general terms - remembering to take into account the basic tendencies, as indicated by the birth horoscope.
As the transiting planets travel through the constellations, in the
heavens, they are correspondingly activating o u r horoscopes. The transiting planets form aspects with our planets as they go.
The smaller, transiting planets are all in position, accordion; to the day, month and year you want to find out about. Remove the Wheel of Life from the Astrodial and place the Aspect
Finder over both sets of planets.
Apply the same principle to the planets transiting your - planets.
When finding aspects for a natal horoscope, a 5 orb more or less is allowed for No. 1 + 2 aspect, and an orb of 100 is allowed for the others.
When finding transits the method is different.
DEGE ALLOWED WHEN TRANSITING PLANETS FORM ASPECTS TO
NATAL PLANETS TRANSITING ORB ALLOWED
SUN 2 more or less
MOON 40 more or less MERCU'?Y 10 more or less
VENUS 10 more or less
MARS 4 more or less
JUPITER 4 more or less
SATURN 5 more or less
URANUS 5 more or less
NEPTUNE 5 more or less
PLUTO 5 more or less
First the Sun O , does the transiting ~I create a No.1, 1, 2, 3, or 5 aspect with your own Sun? Note each aspect as you go. After t to r , comes to to O , then X to etc. etc. Just as you found out about the aspects of your basic horoscope, find any aspects between natal transiting and your natal planets and make notes of them.
(1) Look at the transiting planet set out on your Horoscope: consider one planet at a time, beginning with the Sun. Is the transiting planet in Fire, Water, Air or Earth sign ?
(2) What house is the planet in ?
(3) What area of life is the house associated with ?
(4) Is the planet one of the three outer planets forming an aspect with an outer planet, or is it aspecting one of your personal planets ? When one of the outer planets influences one of your personal planets, the effect can be vert marked.
(5) Is the transiting planet you are assessing also your horoscope's ruling planet , or is the transiting planet in aspect with your ruling planet ?
(6) Has the natal planet an aspect with the transiting planet natally ? i.e. Natally I have the Sun in No.4 aspect to Uranus, so that when transiting Uranus was in a No.l aspect with my Sun, though there were some sudden and unexpected changes, they were not unmanageable because natally these two planets operate harmoniously.
By referring to your Astroform where you have recorded the information about your horoscope, you can apply the above easily.
