Trimming. - An inseam-trimming machine comprises a rotary hollowed cutter and a rotary tubular work-feeding member which extends about the cutter and forms a conduit for the trimmings. As shown, the cutter is mounted on the end of a driven shaft 14 within the open end of a rotating tube 1, Fig. 8, the outer edge of which is roughened to feed the work. Trimmings pass into the tube, which may be fitted with a suction apparatus. The welt is gripped between the end of the tube and a rotary crease guide 22 supported on a ball bearing at the end of a lever 24. The inside of the open end of the tube 1 is concaved to co-operate with the cutter. The cutter is ground as necessary by a grinding wheel 32, Fig. 1, lowered on to the cutter by a screw shaft 40 rotated by a hand wheel. To adjust the position of the cutter, the bracket carrying its bearing is adjustable along an inclined guide by a screw 17 after clamping screws 16 have been slackened. The tube 1 is adjustable longitudinally, its driving bevel wheel being restrained from longitudinal movement and secured to the tube by screws selectively engaging holes 13, Fig. 8, provided at differing distances from the end of the tube. Oil is supplied to the centre of the cutter, and is thrown, by centrifugal action, to its edge and the concave surface 8 of the tube 1.
