Submarine explorations, apparatus for making. -Apparatus for locating bodies and objects under water comprises a pipe, preferably telescopic, rotatably and adjustably mounted on a motorcar or ship and provided at its end with a strong source of light. As shown in Fig. 1, an arm 2 is pivotally mounted on the chassis 1 of a car and is fixed at any angle by means of a pawl engaging a toothed sector 3. On the arm is rotatably and slidably mounted a jib 5, which may be of telescopic conduction, and at the end of which is pivotally mounted' an electric lamp 7 adjustable by means of a rod 9 and a hand-lever 8 The jib is moved along the arm 2 by means of a hand-wheel 6. When not in use, the jib is supported by a bracket 12. When applied to a motor-boat, the apparatus comprises a tube 13, Fig. 4, provided at its lower end with a glass plate or lens 14 and lamps 16, and adapted' to be lowered from the boat by suitable mechanism. If a lens 14 is used an eye-piece is provided at the top of the tube so as to form a telescope.
