Abstract
The remote controller comprises a switch (11) mounted in a pocket in the palm of a glove (10) and connected to a toy vehicle (17) by an electric lead (16). The glove is, preferably, made to simulate a competition glove as worn by racing or rally driver and has only short finger sheaths (15). Depressing one or other switch pad 13 causes the vehicle to move forwardly or rearwardly respectively. <IMAGE>
Description
A REMOTE CONTROLLER FOR A TOY VEHICLE
This invention relates to a remote controller for a toy vehicle.
According to the invention, there is provided a remote controller for a toy vehicle comprising a glove and switch means for controlling operation of the toy vehicle, supported by the glove.
Preferred and/or optional features of the invention are set forth in claims 2 to 5, and the invention in a further aspect is set forth in claim 7,
Such a controller will appeal to children because the glove can be made to simulate a competition glove of a racing or rally driver.
The invention will now be more particularly described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing which is an exploded perspective view of one embodiment of a remote controller according to the invention, in combination with a toy vehicle.
Referring to the drawing, the remote controller shown therein comprises a glove 10 and a spring loaded rocker switch 11 mounted in a pocket 12 in the palm of the glove.
The pocket 12 is defined between the glove 10 per se and an oversewn plastics or leather patch 14.
The glove 10 is made to simulate a competition glove as worn by racing or rally drivers and has only short finger sheaths 15. The finger sheaths 15 may however be longer and may indeed fully enclose a user's fingers. Moreover, the thumb sheath could be omitted.
The switch 11 has two integrally connected finger actuable depressible pads 13 one on either side of its pivot axis. These pads co-operate with respective switch contacts to close an appropriate electrical circuit when depressed. Hence by depressing one or other pad the vehicle may be caused to operate in a forwards or rearwards direction, respectively, The contacts are connected in known manner to an electric lead 16 which may have a push-fittable connector, e e.g.
a jack plug, at its dismal end for connection to a complementary socket in a toy vehicle 17 or which, as shown, may be permanently connected to the vehicle 17.
The toy vehicle 17 is provided with a battery powered d.c. motor (not shown).
The above embodiment is given by way of example only and various modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the inventionS
Claims (8)
- CLAIMS 1. A remote controller for a toy vehicle, comprising a glove and switch means for controlling operation of the toy vehicle, supported by the glove.
- 2. The controller of claim 1, wherein an electric lead is connected at one end to the switch means and is for connection to the toy vehicle at its other end.
- 3. The controller of claim 1 or claim 2. wherein the switch means comprises two depressible members, one for operating the toy vehicle in a forwards direction and the other for operating tho toy vehicle in a roarwards direction.
- 4. The controller of anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the switch means is supported by the palm of the glove.
- 5. The controller of anyone of the preceding claims, wherein the switch means is mounted in a pocket in the glove.
- B. A remote controller substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
- 7. A remote controller according to anyone of the preceding claims in combination with a battery powered motor driven toy vehicle.
- 8. The combination of claim 7, wherein the remote controller is connected to the toy vehicle by an electric lead.
