Abstract

The stand comprises a body 1, 2 containing circuitry connectible, by way of connectors on the body, to a guitar and to other remote equipment, the body being shaped to support the guitar when not being played. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Guitar stand This invention relates to a guitar stand.
With conventional electric guitars pickups on the guitar serve to detect the notes being played and convert them to electrical signals for transmission over a lead to remote circuitry which serves ta reproduce the signals as sounds through a loud-speaker, the guitar often also having controls which can be set or manipulated by the player such that further electrical signals are sent over the lead to the remote circuitry where they serve to determine various parameters of the sound reproduced.
Recently a new design of electric guitar has been proposed with which the previously remote circuitry is contained within the body of the guitar, the guitar thus constituting a substantially self-contained synthesiser which while played like a conventional guitar.is able to produce the sounds generally associated with a keyboard style of synthesiser thus making the guitarist much more versatile. Such an instrument is described in British Patent Application No.
Clearly there is a limit to the amount of circuitry that can be contained in the body of a guitar which is intended to be held and played in.conventional manner, these being limits of size and weight of the instrument.
According to this invention there is provided a guitar stand comprising a body shaped to support a guitar when not being played, the body containing circuitry connectible by way of connectors on the body to the guitar and to other remote equipment.
A guitar stand according to this invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the stand; Figure 2 is a rear elevational view of the stand; and Figure 3 is a side elevational view of the stand.
Referring to the drawings, the stand is made of moulded plastics material and has a rectangular front portion 1 the front face 2 of which is shaped to receive and support a guitar with the neck of the guitar extending upwards. The front portion 1 is supported by a rear portion 3 which is triangular in side elevation (Fig. 3) and serves to support the portion 1 with its face 2 at an angle of about 30 to the vertical.
The rear face 4 of the rear portion 3 carries a plurality of electrical connectors 5 and sockets 6 by way of which circuitry in the rear portion 3 can be connected, by way of appropriate leads, to a guitar to be supported by the front portion, and to remote equipment such as loud-speakers and a source of electrical power.
The circuitry in the rear portion 3 can include a power supply for other circuitry contained in the guitar, and sound determining circuitry responsive to electrical signals received from the guitar to determine the sounds reproduced by the remote equipment.
1. A guitar stand comprising a body shaped to support a guitar when not being played, the body containing circuitry connectible by way of connectors on the body to the guitar and to other remote equipment.
2. A stand as claimed in Claim 1, in which the connectors mate with leads to the guitar and to the remote equipment.
3. A stand as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, in which the circuitry includes a power supply for other circuitry containing in the guitar.
4. A stand as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the circuitry includes sound.
determining circuitry responsive to electrical signals received from the guitar to determine the sounds reproduced by the remote equipment.
5. A guitar stand substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the drawings.
