Abstract

A screwdriver includes a cap (5) having a square hole and a screwdriver body (1) of about 10-20 cm and having an axial through hole (101) in which there is mounted a plurality of different driving pieces (2) each of which has a non-through axial hole (201) which partly receives therein one of the driving pieces. When the protruding driving piece is removed and inserted through the cap the next driving piece is forced into the operational position. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A screwdriver The present invention relates to a screwdriver, and more particularly to a screwdriver having a plurality of driving pieces.
It is known that a driving piece can be detachably secured to, for example, by being screwed on, a screwdriver body to achieve the purpose of easily replacing a driving piece for being used. However, such a screwdriver cannot be used at the presence of a driving piece of different gauge under which circumstance a different screwdriver body is called for which thus causes inconveniences and in turn bears a high cost. In addition, it is time-consuming in replacing a driving piece. Furthermore, a screwdriver generally is packaged with four driving pieces which thus results a relatively large package volume.
It is therefore tried by the applicant to mitigate the shortcoming encountered bythe prior art.
It is therefore an object ofthe present invention to provide a screwdriver having a screwdriver body capable of containing therein a pluralityofeasily replaceable driving pieces of differenttypes and gauges.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a screwdriver the cost of which is relatively cheap.
In accordance with one aspect ofthe present invention, a screwdriver including a screwdriver body having an axial through holewhich receives therein a plurality of driving pieces of different types and gauges.
The present invention may best be understood with a preferred embodiment described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1A is a schematically perspective view showing a cap and a screwdriver body of a screwdriver of the present invention; Figure 1B is a sectional view showing a driving piece of a screwdriver of the present invention; Figure 7C is a schematically perspective view of a screwdriver of the present invention; Figure2A is a schematically sectional view of a screwdriver of the present invention; Figure2B is a sectional view showing the top of a screwdriver body of a screwdriver of the present invention; Figure2Cis a sectional view showing the bottom of a screwdriver body of a screwdriver of the present invention;; Figure 3 is a fragmentarilyperspectiveview showing that a screwdriver ofthe present invention works at a screw; Figure4isafragmentarily perspectiveview showing how a screwdriver of the present invention replaces a driving piece; Figure 5A is a sectional view showing a position reiationship between a cap and a screwdriver body of a screwdriver body of a screwdriver of the present invention, which allows a driving piece passing through a square hole of the cap; Figure 5B is a sectional view showing a position relationship, which confines driving pieces in a through axial hole of the screwdriver body, between a cap and the screwdriver body of a screwdriver of the present invention; and Figure 6 is a schematically perspective view showing a clipped screwdriver of the present invention Referring nowto Figures 1A - 1C,there is shown a screwdriverofthe present invention which includes a screwdriver body 1 made of a transparent or semi-transparent plastic material which includes a tubular portion 12 and a handle portion 11 atop end 16 of which is engagable with a cap 5 which includes two (or more) inside semi-spherical sockets 502 and an inside bottom flange 503.Top end 16 adjoins at the bottom thereof an annular groove 106 in which bottom flange 503 can engage (see Figure 2B also), and has two (or more equal to that of sockets 502) cylindrical radial holes 105 in each of which there are mounted a steel ball 14 and a spring 15 which u rges ball 14 against one of sockets 502.
Cap 5 has a squarethrough hole501 and screwdriver body 1 has an axial through hole 101 which includes an inlet portion 102, which may have a dimension the same as that of hole 501. The bottom oftubular portion 12 includes an annular ridge 103 overwhich an inner annular ridge 401 of an optionally provided cover 4 can pass over for being attached thereto in order to prevent a driving piece protruding beyondthe bottom oftubular portion 12 from occuring a damage when cover 4 is pressed against the bottom portion of tubular portion 12.
The present screwdriver body 1 further contains therein a plurality of driving pieces 2 each of which includes a driving rod 3 and a driving bodywhich includes a tapered axial hole 201, a tapered portion 202 and a square portion 203 each side of which is provided with a longitudinal flange 204. Axial hole 201 can receive therein driving rod 3 secured on the respective tapered portion 202 and tapered portion 202 of another one driving piece 2. Thus, screwdriver body 1 contains therein a plurality of driving pieces 2 in awaythataxial hole 201 of a driving piece 2 receives therein driving rod 3 and tapered portion 202 of another driving piece 2 above it.
Referring to Figures 2A & 2B,the width W2 of through hole 101 is slightly larger than the width W1 of inlet portion 102 which can just pass square portion 203 which also can pass through thethrough hole 501 with flanges 204 engagingly contact with inlet portion 102 and through hole 501. Since through hole 101 and square portion 203 are of square constructions, driving piece 2 cannot rotate within through hole 101.
As shown in Figure2C,tubularportion 12 can have the lower portion thereof provided with an inside annular ridge 104which can engagingly contactwith driving piece 2 which protrudes beyond the bottom oftubularportion 12.
It is noticeable that driving piece 2 can be of various type and gauge.
Referring to Figures 3 - 5B, cap 5 is rotated 45Q relative to top end 16so that balls 14 are seated on sockets 502 and the toppest driving piece 2 cannot escape from through hole 501.
Upon replacing a driving piece 2, cap 5 is rotated further 450 relative to top end 16 so that balls 14 are pressed in cylindrical holes 105 and square hole 501 aligns with inlet portion 102. Atthis time, when driving piece 2 extracted from the bottom oftubular portion 12 is inserted into through hole 501 and inlet portion 102, another one driving piece 2 will protrude beyond the bottom of tubular portion 12 and is ready for being used.
As shown in Figure 6, handle portion 11 can be provided with a clip 13, which can be of hidden-type, i.e. it only exposes a curied end 131 when not pulled when viewed from the outer appearance of handle portion 11, which can have screwdriver body 1 clipped on a pocket of one's clothes.
