Abstract

A lightweight beanbag type of camera support constructed so as to allow three repeatable configurations of use to be achieved by means of velcro (RTM) strips stitched to the outside of the sealed bag at specific sites relative to the length thus enabling the shape of the bag to be altered and maintained as required. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Tri-bag beanbag camera support This invention relates to a lightweight beanbag photographic camera support.
A beanbag is a small bag orsack usually made of soft material e.g. linen, corduroy or nylon, which may be filled with beans or small pebbles to provide a soft malleable stable supportforthe use of a camera and lens to enable the user to keep the camera still during use and to protect it from damage caused by contact with the site upon which the camera is placed during use.
A disadvantage of using natural beans or pebbles is theirweight, and also their size. A bag filled with beans or pebbles will not enable the user to provide supports of differing heights and configurations without increasing or reducing the number of beans contained therein.
The present invention provides a sealed bag containing polystyrene balls of one to three millimetres diameter, which can be used repeatedly and reliably in three different configurations, hence the name TRI-BAG. The three positions in which the Tri-bag can be used are maintained bythe use of velcro (RTM) tape attached at specific sites to the outside of the bag. There is no need to empty or refill the bag at anytime during use. The bag is made of dralon,(RTM),corduroy, ballistic nylon orsimilar material to the design illustrated in the accompanying drawings and sealed with stitching.
The use of polystyrene balls keeps the overall weight below eighty grammes when the Tri-bag is made from ballistic nylon.
Aspecificembodimentofthe invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows one side of the Tri-bag; Figure 2 shows the reverse side of the Tri-bag; Figure 3 shows the long edge view of the Tri-bag; Figure 4shows the 'open' configuration; Figure 5shows the 'closed' configuration; Figure 6shows the 'pillow' configuration; Figure 7shows two Tri-bags used togetherfor longer lenses.
At the top right hand corner of the Tri-bag as shown in Figure 1 is attached either a short (ten centimetre) loop with plastic or polycarbonate D-ring for attachment to clips, or a long (thirty-six centimetre) loop for use as a wrist strap.
1. ATri-bag beanbag type of photographic camera support comprising a sealed bag made of ballistic nylon, nylon, corduroy, dralon (RTM), or similar material filled with polystyrene balls, with velcro (RTM) stitched to the outside in specific positions so as to allow the. bag to be used in three easily repeatable configurations.
2. ATri-bag as claimed in Claim 1 with a loop attached to one corner fixed to a D-ring.
3. ATri-bag as claimed in Claim 1 withtheoption of a long loop to be used as a wrist strap for ease of carriage and to help prevent loss.
