Abstract

Optical-projection apparatus.-A slide-changing device is provided with means whereby the new slide takes up a position in correct register in front of the old slide as it is pushed in, and whereby the old slide is withdrawn by the pusher member. Fig. II<a> shows a horizontal section of part of the slide carrier. The front walls L of the grooves in the upper and lower fixed stiles are each provided with a wooden strip P which is tapered towards the end of the carrier at which the slides are inserted. Springs 0 keep the slides pressed against the strips P during exhibition. The new slide B is pushed into position along the front of partitions C in the grooves of the stiles, and, upon reaching the strip P, is guided into the place previously occupied by the slide A. The ends of the partitions C are flexible so as to allow the slides to be moved into position and so as to return to the normal position and retain the new slide as the old one is withdrawn. The pusher member comprises a small block of wood carrying a metal strip which slides in a groove beneath the lower stile and serves as a guide. The block also carries a metal arm to push the new slide into position and a flexible metal arm having a hooked end which engages behind the edge of the old slide and withdraws it as the pusher member is withdrawn.
