Abstract

The stand has a base member 3 with arms 1 & 2 pivoted thereto for movement between an in use position in which the hub bolts of a caravan may be fixed thereto to enable the caravan to be supported without its wheels, and a folded position in which it may interlocked with a similar stand for storage. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Collapsible caravan support stands This invention relates to collapsible caravan stands (pair).
Caravan support stands are often used when caravans are left for storage periods (often many months). The wheels are removed and an adaptor plate/stand is secured to the wheel hub. It is this plate/stand which supports the weight of the caravan.
Conventional support stands are, however bulky in dimensions when not in use, and do not have provision for more than one set of bolt hole centre locations (the great majority of caravans will have 5z'' P.C.D. or 100 mm P.C.D. Bolt centres-all having four bolts/hub) According to the present invention there is provided provision to locate on either 52" P.C.D. or 100 mm P.C.D. bolt centres. The entire construction is made from 40 mm angle iron and will collapse into a tiered assembly, both pairs interlocking to make a compact storage system.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a front view of the collapsible stand with the wheel hub in position on both swinging arms.
Figure 2 shows the stand (one side only) in the collapsed position.
Referring to the drawing the support comprises of two swinging arms, 1 and 2, and the base of the frame 3. Pivoting of the arms is effected at points 'A' and 'B' by means of bolts (not shown).
Location of the caravan hub bolts is met with the alignment of arm '1' (one location hole only) and arm 2 (three drilled holes to align with two only hub bolts of either 52" P.C.D. or 100 mm P.C.D. when the frame is not in service it can be folded away by closing down arm '1' and then arm '2' to rest on base member '3' (movement as arrows 'X' and 'Y'), both pairs once closed can be 'slotted' into one another to give a closed system within the overall dimensions of 85 mm x 65 mm x 400 mm long.
1. A collapsible caravan support stand (pair) which can be positioned to locate the wheel hub bolts of 5-" or 100 mm P.C.D.
(trs. on caravans. The construction allows the system to be folded away and interlocked in pairs when not being used.
2. A collapsible caravan support stand as claimed in Claim 1 wherein pivot points are provided on the locating arms to ensure accurate alignment with the hub bolts.
3. A collapsible caravan support stand as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein bolt hole location is provided by one hole at the end of one arm and three holes at the end of the other arm. The latter arm mentioned will locate on two only of the three holes depending on hub design.
4. A collapsible caravan support stand as claimed in Claim 3 wherein the three component parts of the stand can, once unbolted from the hub, be folded together to form a compact and interlocking assembly of reduced dimensions.
5. A collapsible caravan support stand substantially as described herein with reference to Figs. 1-2 of the accompanying drawing.
