Abstract
A numbers game checking apparatus (10) comprising a sheet of material (12) being at least partly transparent and having arranged upon it an array of numbers intended to, in use, be capable of location upon a coupon and adjacent a corresponding array of numbers used in a numbers game such that a user may check the coincidence of a set of predicted numbers, marked upon the coupon, with a set of numbers fortuitously determined in the numbers game and marked on the sheet of material (12). A handle portion (16) may be present, and can be so shaped as to receive a pen. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Numbers Game Checking Apparatus
The present invention relates to a numbers game checking apparatus.
In general, checking apparatus for numbers games comprise an array of numbers on a sheet of material wherein individual ones of the numbers are removable from the sheet of material as described and claimed in Australian Patent Applications Nos.
17459/83 and 7461481. Then, in use, a winning set of numbers is removed from the array and the material placed over an array of the game to check a set of numbers predicted by the player to determine the correspondence of the winning members to the predicted numbers.
The disadvantage of such apparatus is that the sheet of material may only be used once since the winning numbers rarely, if ever, are repeated.
Further, if a number is erroneously removed from the array the sheet must be discarded and a new sheet used if its full benefit is to be realised.
The present invention provides a numbers game checking apparatus which is re-usable.
In accordance with the present invention there is provided a numbers game checking apparatus comprising a sheet of material being at least partly transparent and having arranged upon it an array of numbers intended to, in use, be capable of location upon a coupon and adjacent a corresponding array of numbers used in a numbers game such that a user may check the coincidence of a set of predicted numbers, marked upon the coupon, with a set of numbers fortuitously determined in the numbers game and marked on the sheet of material.
Preferably, the checking apparatus also comprises a handle means fixed to the sheet of material.
The checking apparatus of the present invention is particularly envisaged for use in an Australian numbers game referred to as "Lotto", although it is to be understood that it is of general applicability.
The features of "Lotto" are described in
Australian Patent Application No. 17459/83, excepting that "Lotto" as at 1986, has been offered to a selection of six numbers from an array of 45 numbers.
The present invention will now be described by way of example with particular reference to "Lotto" and the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure lisa side view of a checking apparatus in accordance with the present invention;
Figure 2 is a plan view of the checking apparatus of Figure 1; and
Figure 3 is an upper perspective view of the checking apparatus of Figure 1.
In the drawings there is shown a checking apparatus 10 comprising a sheet of material 12 which is at least partly transparent. As shown in
Figure 2 the checking apparatus 10 also comprises an array of numbers 14. The array of numbers 14 may be an array of 45 consecutive numbers in ordered relation as shown in Figure 2. It is to be understood that the array of numbers 14 could be of other than 45 numbers, such as, for example, 36 or 40 or48 numbers.
The array of numbers 14 are arranged upon the transparent sheet 12 in a corresponding plurality of boxes 15 in a manner correspondent with a coupon comprising one or more identical arrangements of arrays of numbers in boxes (not shown). Each number of the array of numbers 14 on the sheet 12 is situated so as to be capable of overlapping correspondence with its like number in the array of numbers on the coupon.
The sheet 12 is intended to be transparent at least in the region of the array of numbers 14, so that a user thereof may look through the sheet 12 at the array of numbers on the coupon.
Preferably, the checking apparatus also comprises a handle means 16 fixed to or integral with the sheet 12. The handle means 16 is intended to be gripped by a user of the apparatus 10 in order to position it over each, in turn of the arrays of numbers on the coupon (referred to as a "Lotto" coupon).
Preferably, the handle means 16 is disposed upwardly of the sheet 12.
In use, the checking apparatus 10 of the present invention is disposed with the handle means 16 uppermost. Numbers of the array of members 14, which represent winning numbers for the purposes of a particular game of "Lotto" are marked with, for example a water based ink pen.
The checking apparatus 10 is then positioned upon a "Lotto" coupon such that adjacent numbers of the coupon and the array of numbers 14 of the checking apparatus 10 match. Then the user can, by looking at the array of numbers on the coupon through the transparent portion of the sheet 12 and the array of numbers 14, determine the coincidence of his predicted numbers with the winning numbers fortuitously obtained in the "Lotto" game. After the numbers have been checked and the coincidence determined the boxes 15 marked in ink on the transparent sheet may be cleaned to leave the numbers only in the boxes 15. The checking apparatus loins then ready for use to checkfurther issues of fortuitously obtained "Lotto" numbers.
It is envisaged that the handle means 16 could comprise a recess, such as a recess 18 as shown in
Figure 1, arranged to receive the ink pen used in conjunction with the checking apparatus 10.
It is also envisaged that a lid of the ink pen could be formed in and/or with the handle means 16 thereby integrating the ink pen and the checking apparatus 10. Modifications and variations such as would be apparent to a skilled addressee are deemed within the scope of the present invention.
1.A A numbers game checking apparatus characterised in that it comprises a sheet of material being at least partly transparent and having arranged upon it an array of numbers to, in use, be capable of location upon a coupon and adjacent a corresponding array of numbers used in a numbers game such that a user may check the coincidence of a set of predicted numbers, marked upon the coupon, with a set of numbers fortuitously determined in the numbers game and marked on the sheet of material.
