Abstract

A device to hold a coin 8 to a printed card 6 in a position that relates to the illustration 7 or message on the card 6. The device comprises a piece of thin plastic 9 shaped to cover one face and the edges of a coin 8 with a flange 10 extending outward from the edges. The flange is secured to a card 6 in the required position with the cover 9 placed over an aperture in the card 6. The aperture is shaped to be in some part smaller than the coin 8. The coin 8 is forced through the aperture into the plastic cover 9 and is held in position by the aperture being in some part smaller than the coin 8. The device may also be used to hold a tablet in a position related to an illustration or message on a printed card. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Device to hold coins or tablets This invention is a device for holding one ora number of coins ortablets in a required position on a printed card.
Many people wish to give money in the form of a coin or coins as a gift. In orderto make this more attractive it is required to provide a container for these coins in which the coin is incorporated as part of design, picture or message on a card. It is also requiredto providea containerfortablets of paintand other kinds oftablet so that they may be held to a card as part of a design imprinted upon the face of the card.
According to this invention a piece ofthin plastic is shaped or moulded to cover one face and the sides or edges of a coin ortabletandto provide a flange outward from its sides for the purpose of attaching it to a card. The other face ofthe coin ortablet is not covered by the shaped piece of plastic. The shaped plastic cover is attached to a piece of cardboard or paperboard by an adhesive. The cardboard or paperboard will have a printed design, picture or message on one or both sides and the shaped cover will be positioned to hold a coin or coins, tablet or tablets in a position that relates to the printed image on the card. The card will have a shaped aperture coinciding with any position at which a coin ortablet isto be held. The aperture is shaped to provide an opening through which the coin ortabletcan be inserted and will be of a shape that is in some part smallerthan the coin ortablet. The coin ortablet is forced past the aperture into the plastic cover and thus held in place.
The shape of the aperture may be of a different shape orthe same shape as the coin ortabletand of a smaller dimension. Alternatively the shape may be of the same size or largerthan the coin ortabletwith projections intruding intotheapertureto retain the coin ortablet.
In an alternative construction the shaped plastic cover can be placed between two pieces of cardboard or paperboard. One piece of card will have an aperture through which the shaped coverwill project.
The second card will have an aperture as previously described through which the coin ortabletwill be forced. The cards will be assembled with the apertures each side of the shaped plastic cover with the flange of the cover held between the two cards.
The two cards are fixed together. The two cards may be formed from one piece of card that has been folded.
Acardto hold coins ortablets made bythe methods previously described may be a part of or attached to a larger card or article made from cardboard, paperboard or other material.
The shaped plastic cover may be placed to hold the coin ortableton thefront or backside ofteh card so that the coin or tablet can be forced through the aperturefromthefrontorback as required to suitthe design printed on the card. The cover may be made of transluscentoropaque plastic or it may be madefrom transparent plastic so that the coin ortablet is visible.
The shape ofthe cover may be similarto that ofthe coin ortablet it is intended to hold or may be of a different shape.
Aspecificembodimentofthis invention will now be described byway of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which; Figure 7 shows the face of a card 6 carrying an illustration 7 and a coin 8 held in a position appropriateto the design by a shaped plastic cover 9.
The flange of the cover is shown by the broken line 10.
Figure2 is a view ofthe back ofthe card 6 showing the shaped aperture 11 with projections 12 that retain the coin 8 after it has been forced past into the cover.
The coin 8 is shown bythe broken line.
Figure 3 is a side view of card 6 to which is attached a shaped plastic cover 9 containing a coin 8. It also shows the aperture 11 which is smallerthan the coin 8.
Figure 4 is a side view of an alternative form of construction in which the card 6 is joined to a second card 13 holding a coin 8 in a cover9withtheflange 10 held in position between the card 6 and the second card 13. Inthisform or ofconstruction the smaller shaped aperture 11 is in the second card 13. The card 6 having an aperture 14through which the shaped plastic cover 9 is projected.
1. Adeviceto hold a coin to a printed card in a position that relates to the design, picture or message on the card. The device to be made from two components joined together. The first component to be a shaped plastic cover. The second component being a printed card with an apperturethat is in some partsmallerthan the coin. The two components are joined together with the shaped cover positioned overthe aperture. The coin isforcedthroughthe aperture into the cover and held in position by the aperture being smallerthan the coin.
2. A device as claimed in Claim 1 comprising of two layers of card holding a shaped plastic cover between them. The cover is projected through an aperture in one card with a flange on the cover held between the two cards. An aperture in the second card is aligned with the cover. This aperture is in some partsmallerthan the coin to be held.Thetwo cards are fixed together.
3. Adevice as claimed in Claim 2 in which the two cards described are made from a single piece of folded card.
4. Adevice as claimed in Claims 1 and 2 and 3to hold tablets of paint.
5. A device as claimed in Claims 1 and 2 and 3to hold tablets of material otherthan paint.
6. A device as claimed in Claims 1,2, 3,4 and 5 hold a coin ortabletin a required position on a printed card in which the plastic cover is shaped to represent an object otherthan the coin ortabletto be held in orderto disguise the said coin ortablet.
