Abstract

Directive s i g n a l. ling. - In order to eliminate the vertical or non - directional effect of an ordinarv frame aerial or radiogomometer, the middle point of the frame winding, or , as shown in the Figure, the centre point of the combined system of fixed coils B, B and search coil C, is earthed at T. The equipotential point of the filament-heating battery is also earthed at P, a grid biasing battery being inserted if necessary to adjust the mean grid potential to its optimum point. By inserting a resistance R of suitable value in the earth lead from the frame, a sufficient residue of the vertical effect may be retained and utilized to remove the diametral ambiguity of the frame system when used alone.
