Abstract

217,048. M÷bius, W. June 15, 1923. Cleaners for tobacco pipes.-A handle member 3, Fig. 2, comprising a single folded strip of resilient material, has extending from it two blades 1, screw means 4 acting against the spring of the handle member being provided to adjust the distance between the blades. As shown in Fig. 4, the blades 1 are formed as extensions of the ends of the handle member 5, and adjustment is effected by a conical wedge 7 actuated by a screw 2. The screw may be provided with a milled head 6 or this head may be formed in one with the wedge 7. A cleaner of this construction but having three blades is also described. In further modified forms, a handle member such as 5, Fig. 4, of circular or partcircular vertical section may be combined with either of the screw-adjusting means described. When it is combined with the screw means shown in Fig. 2, the blades themselves may comprise cylindrical segments having their curved surfaces either adjacent to one another or facing outwards, the surfaces when facing outwards being fluted.
