Description
SPECIFICATION
Pull-out guide assembly for drawers The invention relatesto a pull-out guide assembly for drawers, in particularfor drawers of plastics material, comprising two pull-out rails of metal to be fastened to the drawer, each of said rails having a horizontal running flange, a vertical flange and a horizontal fastening flange insertable beneath the drawer bottom into holding means ofthe drawer, said fastening flange extending oppositely to the running flange and holding members being moulded thereto, preferably punched out therefrom, and securing the pull-out rail at the drawer.
Pull-out guide assemblies of the afore-mentioned kind usually comprise a pull-out rail arranged on each side ofthe drawer and one supporting rail, each, fastened to the side wall ofthe body. To facilitate extraction of the drawer, the rails are provided with runner rollers and/or slides, for example of plastics material. Moreover, guide assemblies for drawers are knowninwhich between the pull-out rails and the supporting rails, a cage for balls or a runner carriage is arranged which carries the runner rollers.
According to the known state ofthe art, the pull-out rails are either screwed to the side wall of the drawer ordowelledthereto, or in particular in the case of plastics drawers, the pull-out rails are inserted into a groove provided for this purpose and clawed therein.
The latter-mentioned is only possible with very broad drawer side walls.
It is the general object of the invention to provide a pull-out guide assembly for a drawer guide assembly which can in particularinthecaseof drawersidewalls of plastics material be quickly mounted, the mounting being preferably possible without any particulartools and providing a very good support ofthe rails atthe walls of the drawers.
Suggestions in this respect are described in German
Utility Models 7225383 and 75 20 708. German Utility
Model 7910 175 shows a runnerframe for drawers in which the running railsarefastenabletoacolumn-like supporting structure by means offlaps punched out of the running rails. The way of fastening the pull-out rails to the drawer by means offlaps or tongue extending in the pull-out direction is shown in German
Utility Model 7528816.
It is in particularthe object ofthe invention to provide a pull-out guide assembly whose pull-out rails are particularly suitable for being fastened to stackable drawers of plastics material.
The objects ofthe invention are attained in that the holding members punched out of the fastening flange are flaps which extend in the moving direction of the drawer, engage in apertures inthe drawerand are associated with at least one oppositely directed stop flap which prevents together with the counter stop at the drawer unintentional extraction ofthe flaps from the apertures ofthe drawer, in that between theflaps at leastone supporting cam isarrangedatthe fastening flange and rests against the lower side of the drawer, and in that at least one cam resting against the drawer side wall and compensating a lateral clearance between the drawer and the pull-out rail is provided.
To make the drawers stackable, their side walls must be inclined so that the drawers can be placed into one another. On the other side, the vertical flanges of the pull-out rails should extend vertically in the mounting position so that good lateral guiding is obtained betweenthe pull-out rails and the runner rollers moving thereon. The clearance which could result therefrom between the drawer and the pull-out rails is prevented by the pull-out rail designed according to the invention, and it must be considered atthesametimethatthe guide assemblies as well as the drawers are mass products which should be produced with the lowest possible technical expenditure. This applies in particularto special shapes and profiles ofthe respective parts.
Furthermore, it is to be considered that due to the design according to the invention, the pull-out rails can be mounted atthedrawerin a veryquickand simple manner.
It is advantageously provided that the cam is punched out ofthe vertical flange ofthe pull-out rail.
One embodiment of the invention provides that the flaps are arranged nexttothefrontand rearwall ofthe drawer.
Good lateral guiding ofthe drawer is obtained in that the vertical flange of the pull-out rail is bent and extends at an angle on both sides ofthe point of bending.
The fit between the pull-out guides and the drawer is improved in that, with the pull-out rail being mounted at the drawer, a flange projecting from the bottom of the drawer extends between the front face of the cam and the side face ofthe supporting cam which is directed towards the vertical flange.
It has proved advantageous to provide a cam in the vicinity of each flap.
In the following, an embodiment ofthe invention will be described with reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings, in which
Figure 1 shows a sectional view of a drawer in the pull-out direction comprising a pull-out guide assembly according to the invention,
Figure 2 shows a front view of a side of the drawer, with the front plate being dismounted, and
Figure 3 shows a sectional view along line ll-ll of Fig.
1.
In the figures of the drawing, refernce number 8 is the body ofthe piece offurniture, 2 is the drawer,7 ist the front plate ofthe drawer, and 1 shows the pull-out rail.
As can be seen fromfigures2 and 3, the drawer2 has inclined sidewalls 2' diverging towards the edge ofthe drawer.
At the drawer bottom 9, the side walls 2' extend into downwardly extending flanges 10.
The pull-out rails 1 have substantially Z-profiles and comprise a horizontal running flange 11, a vertical flange 12 and a lowerfastening flange 13 directed oppositelyto the running flange 11. In the mounted position, the fastening flange 13 is beneath the bottom ofthedrawer9,whiletheverticalflangel rests against the side wall 2' ofthe drawer.
Two flaps 5 are punched outofthe holding flange 13 of each pull-out rail 1 which are aligned in the moving direction of the drawer 2 and are orientated towards the rear wall of the drawer. Said flaps 5 are insertable into apertures of the drawer 2. Nextto the front walls 2" ofthe drawer2, projections may be moulded to the bottom 9 ofthe drawer, said projections comprising pocket holes receiving the flaps 3. A stop flap 4 which is also punched out ofthefastening flange 13 ofthe pull-out rail 1 and extends into a recess 14 in the drawer prevents extraction ofthe pull-out rail 1 and disengagement oftheflaps 3 from the apertures ofthe drawer 2.
A pull-out rail 1 which has been pushed onto the drawer 2 is, hence firmly secured thereto.
To improve the fit between the pull-out rails 1 and the drawer 2, supporting cams 5, as can be seen from Fig. 1, are provided substantially in the center ofthe pull-out rails 1, said cams resting againstthe lower side 9 of the drawer so thatthe drawer2 is held under a certain tension between the flaps 3 and the supporting cams 5.
The same effect could be produced by providing a cam or groove at the lower side of the bottom 9 ofthe drawerwhich presses onto the fastening flange 13 of the pull-out rails 1. In respect ofthe manufacturing process, the formation of supporting cams 5 at th e pull-out rail is more advantageous.
In the illustrated embodiment, cams 6 orientated towards the side walls 2' are formed at each pull-out rail 1. Said cams 6 are punched out of the vertical flange12and are positioned directly above the fastening flange 13.
As can particularly be seen from Fig.3, the vertical flange 12 of each pull-out rail 1 is bent and extends on both sides of the bending pointatan angle ostothe sidewall 2' ofthe piece of flu rniture. The cams 6 prevent, als already mentioned, a clearance between the side wall 2' ofthe drawer2 and the pull-out rail 1 abutting thereon. The cams 6 press onto the side wall 2' and onto the flanges 10 forming the extension ofthe side wall 2'. The flange 10 extends between the cams 6 and the compensating cams 5, which furtherim proves the firm fit between the pull-out rail 1 and the sidewall ofthedrawer2.
Fig. 2 furthershows the runner rollers 15 and the supporting rail 16 on the side of the body, but said parts do not actually belong to the subject ofthe invention.
