Abstract

In a cutting machine comprising an universally swivellable cantilever (4) having arranged on its free end at least one cutting head (12) for being rotatingly driven, a collecting chute (9) for the cut material and extending beneath the cutting head (12) is connected with the cantilever (4). The collecting chute (9) has lateral cheeks (13) extending at least up to the level of the cutting head axis. In this manner, the cut material is collected immediately below the cutting head and does not fall on the floor, so that dust formation is reduced and separate removal of material from the floor is at least substantially avoided. A conveyor chute (31) or the like is connected to the collecting chute (9) and has its discharge end (23) located above a removal conveyor means arranged on the cutting machine (3). Within the collecting chute (9) and the conveyor chute (31) there is arranged a removal means (21), for example a conveyor belt or a scraper conveyor, and a dust exhaust device (26) can be connected to the collecting chute (9). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Cutting machine The invention refers to a cutting machine comprising an universally swivellable cantilever having at its free end arranged at least one cutting head for being rotatingly driven. In usual machines of this type, the cut material falls down on the floor and is removed by usual removal means such as, for example, a loading ramp of the cutting machine. The material falling down gives, in particular in case of great excavation heights, rise to considerable dustforma- tion. In particular in connection with a cutting procedure in which first a calotte is advanced and the stope is only subsequently cut, the cut material remaining within the calotte gives rise to difficulties during the further cutting work.
It is an object of the invention to improve removal of the cut material. For achieving this object, the invention essentially consists in that a collecting chute for the cut material and extending beneath the cutting head is connected with the cantilever carrying the cutting head. The cut material falls into the collecting chute and is removed therefrom. Because the collecting chute extends beneath the cutting head, the height of fall of the material is low and as a consequence also the dust formation is low. On account of the cut material being collected immediatley at the excavation area, removal work is facilitated. This applies in particular if a calotte is cut.
The material cut within the calotte is removed via the collecting chute, so that the floor of the step limiting the calotte is kept free and further advancing or, respectively, cutting work within the calotte is not obstructed by the cut material. According to the invention, the collecting chute preferably comprises lateral cheeks extending at least up to the cutting head axis. The cutting head is thus also laterally shielded, so that the cut material enters substantially completely the collecting chute.
According to the invention, there is preferably annexed to the collecting chute a conveyor chute having its discharge end located above a removal conveyor means arranged on the cutting machine.
By means of this conveyor chute, the cut material can be removed immediately from the collecting chute. If the collecting chute and the conveyor chute are downwardly inclined, the cut material slides downwardly under the action of gravity. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is, however, arranged within the collecting chute and within the conveyor chute a removal means, for example a conveyor belt or a scraper conveyor. Thus it is possible to remove the cut material in the collecting chute independent from the position of the cutting head and of the conveyor chute. In this manner it becomes also possible to use the device according to the invention even if cutting work is effected at lower levels, for example if the stope is cut or even if undercuts below the floor are effected on which the cutting machine travels.According to the invention, there is preferably connected to the collecting chute a dust exhaust device. Dustforma- tion is existent although being less pronounced on account of the short height of fall till the collecting chute. Such a dust exhaust device is strongly effective in particular if the lateral cheeks of the collecting chute extend at least up to the level of the cutting head axis.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the arrangement is such that the cantilever carries the collecting chute and the collecting chute carries the cutting head together with its drive means. The collecting chute can be given a sturdy design and supporting of the cutting head together with its drive means on the collecting chute provides considerable constructional advantages.
According to the invention the collecting chute and the cutting head can be adjustable one relative to the other and in direction to the drift face. In this case, the collecting chute can be moved till engagement on the drift face. This provides the advantage that the cut material can nearly completely be received by the collecting chute. In a constructional simple arrangement, the cutting head together with its drive means is, according to the invention, shiftably supported on the collecting chute for being shifted in direction to the drift face.
According to the invention, the arrangement is conveniently such that the cutting head or the cutting heads is (are) rotatably supported for rotation around an axis transversely extending relative to the axis of the cutting aggregate and the bits effect cutting work on the drift face from above in downward direction. In this manner, the cut material is immediately thrown into the collecting chute by the bits.
In the drawing, the invention is schematically illustrated with reference to an embodiment.
Figure 1 shows a side elevation of the cutting machine.
Figure 2 shows a top plan view.
A cantilever 4 is supported for swivelling movement around a horizontal axis 5 on the turn table 1 of the traversing gear 2 of the cutting machine 3.
Swivelling of the cantilever 4 is effected by means of a hydraulic piston-cylinder-aggregate 6 being pivotally linked to the turn table 1 and to the lever arm 7 of the cantilever 4. The collecting chute 9 is pivotally linked to the cantilevering end of the cantilever 4 at 8. Furthermore, the collecting chute 9 is pivotally linked to the cantilever 4 by means of a cylinderpiston-aggregate 18. The pivotal point on the cantilever is designated by 19 and the pivotal point on the collecting chute is designated by 20. The position of the collecting chute 9 can be adjusted by means of this cylinder-piston-aggregate 18. 10 indicates a cutting aggregate. 11 indicates a housing in which is arranged the drive motor and the gearing for driving both cutting heads 12.
The collecting chute 9 has lateral cheeks 13 which extend till above the axis of the cutting heads and which thus provide a great stiffness of the collecting chute. The cutting aggregate 10 is shiftably supported within the collecting chute 9 for being shifted in direction of its axis. This shiftable support results from two piston-cylinder-aggregates of sturdy construction. The cylinders 14 of these piston-cylinderaggregates are rigidly connected with the collecting chute 9. The ends of the pistons 15 are connected with the cutting aggregate 10. In this manner, the cutting aggregate 10 and the collecting chute 9 can be adjusted in their position one relative to the other and be adjusted independent one from the other againstthe drift face 16. The cutting heads 12 rotate in direction of the arrow 17.The bits of these cutting heads 12 thus throw the cut material into the collecting chute 9.
A conveyor chute 31 is annexed to the collecting chute 9. Within the collecting chute 9 and within said conveyor chute 31 is arranged a conveyor 21, for example a chain conveyor. The front deflecting roll is designated by 22 and the rear deflecting roll is designated by 23. This conveyor 21 transports the cut material from the collecting chute 9 to the discharge end (deflecting roll 23), from where it falls through an opening 24 extending through the turntable 1 of the traversing gear 2 onto a conveyor 25 arranged on the cutting machine 3. An exhaust device, having its air duct designated by 26, is connected to the rear end of the collecting chute 9.
The cutting machine is shown in a position in which a calotte 27 is cut. After having cut the calotte, also the stope 28 is cut. As is shown by the marginal lines 29, also an undercut below the floor 30 can be effected on which the cutting machine travels. This work can equally be effected by means of the device shown in the drawing. In the lowermost position, in which the undercut 29 is effected, the axis of the cantilever 4 is indicated in dash-dotted lines by 4' and the collecting chute 9 is indicated by 9'. If the conveyor 21 arranged within the collecting chute 9 is a chain conveyor, this conveyor can without difficulty move the cut material in upward direction from the lowermost shown position 9' of the collecting chute 9.

Claims (10)

1. Cutting machine comprising an universally swivellable cantilever (4) having at its free end arranged at least one cutting head (12) for being rotatingly driven, characterized in that a collecting chute (9) for the cut material and extending beneath the cutting head (12) is connected with the cantilever (4) carrying the cutting head (12).
2. Cutting machine as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the collecting chute (9) has lateral cheeks (13) extending at least up to the level of the cutting head axis.
3. Cutting machine as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterized in that to the collecting chute (9) there is annexed a conveyor chute (31) orthe like having its discharge end (23) located above a removal conveyor means (25) arranged on the cutting machine (3).
4. Cutting machine as claimed in claim 1,2 or 3, characterized in that a removal means (21), for example a conveyor belt or a scraper conveyor, is arranged within the collecting chute (9) and the conveyor chute (31).
5. Cutting machine as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 4, characterized in that a dust exhaust device (26) is connected to the collecting chute (9).
6. Cutting machine as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the cantilever (4) carries the collecting chute (9) and the collecting chute (9) carries the cutting head (12)togetherwith its drive means (11).
7. Cutting machine as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 6, characterized in that collecting chute (9) and cutting head (12) are adjustable one relative to the other against the drift face (16).
8. Cutting machine as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the cutting head (12) is, together with its drive means (11), shiftably supported on the collecting chute (9) for being shifted to the drift face (16).
9. Cutting machine as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the collecting chute (9) is adjustable till engagement with the drift face (16).
10. Cutting machine as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the cutting head or the cutting heads (12) is (are) rotatably supported for rotation around an axis transversely extending relative to the axis of the cutting aggregate (10) and the bits effect cutting work on the drift face (16) from above in downward direction.
