Abstract
A small container has a body and a separate unit(s) (cassette/s) housing the vessels containing the cooling, heating or atmospheric mediums required and the appropriate and necessary controls. The cassette(s) are releasably secured to the body and may be removed for the recharging of the vessels or replacement by similar cassettes having already recharged vessels. The desired temperature or atmosphere in the body of the container may also be created and maintained by exterior sources of the mediums used, other than cassettes, using the same inlets provided in the body for the cassette(s). <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A small transportable container for chilled or frozen products or for products requiring controlled athmosphers or environments
Greater emphasis is being paid to the teperature at which food and other products and materials are transported from place or production or processing to point of sale, further processing or usage.
Present sizes or transportation containers do not permit their being placed alongside the production or processing station to allow immediate loading of the product or alongside the display cabinet for unloading for retail sale or alongside other point for storage and/or usage.
The object of the invention is to allow the chilled or frozen product to be held within the same enviroment for the whole transportation and, if necessary, any intermediate storage period.
The proposed cooling medium is liquid gas stored in suitable vessels which together with the necessary controls are contained in a separate and detachable unit (cassette). The cassette can be detached to enable the vessels to be charged with gas or, in operation of the container, one cassette may be substituted at intervals for another to extend the time available for storage and or transportation.
Alternativly the controls could be housed within the main body of the container or in a separate and detachable unit without the storage vessels and the latter may also be housed within or without the main container and be separate and detachable/removable.
The combined controls/vessels or separate controls vessels may be located on the sides or roof or within or beneath the base of the container the proposed container would be suitable for connection to external sources of cooling via the main gas inlet or other connections the container would be fitted with wheels or slides to allow easy movement or be capable of being transported by other means the invention would also allow the carriage of food and other products requiring minimum tempretures or special athmosphers by the substitution of heating elements or gas cylinders, for appropiate gas, for the vessels (and controls) necessary for refrigeration.
1. A transportable container comprising a body, in the form of a box provided with a door(s), mounted on wheels, and a separate unit or units (cassette/s) containing gas vessels and or controls with means of releasably securing it (them) to the body.
2. The body provided with an opening of suitable size and shape to receive the cooling gas, heating or special atmospheres from the cassette(s) and to provide a route by which the temperature or atmosphere in the body may be sampled by sensors contained within the cassette(s).
3. The cassette(s) is (are) provided with an outlet(s) compatible in size shape and position which, when secured to the body, will mate with the opening in the body referred to in
Claim 2 and allow the passage of cooling gas, heating or other atmospheres from the storage vessels in the cassette(s) into the body of the container and allow the sensors contained within the cassette(s) to determine the conditions within the body of the container.
4. The interior of the outlet chamber in the cassette(s) to be of suitable shape to direct the gas or atmosphere into the body and to hold the sensors referred to in Claims 2 and 3.
5. The opening referred to in Claim 1 may be in the top bottom sides or ends of the body and the cassette(s) secured to the appropriate face or faces of the body.
6. The required temperature or atmosphere of the body may be introduced into the body and held by means of an exterior source (not a cassette) of cooling, heating or special atmosphere gases the source having an outlet compatible with the body iniet referred to in
Claim 2.
CLAIMS
Amendments to the claims have been filed, and have the following effect:
Claims 1, 3, 5 & 6 above have been deleted or textually amended.
New or textually amended claims have been filed as follows:
1. A transportable container comprising a body, in the form of a box provided with a door(s) and a separate unit or units (cassette/s) containing gas vessels and or controls with means of releasably securing it (them) to the body.
3. The cassette(s) is (are) provided with an outlet chamber(s) compatible in size, shape and position which, when secured to the body, will mate with the opening in the body referred to in Claim 2 and allow the passage of cooling gas, heating or other atmospheres from the storage vessels in the cassette(s) into the body of the container and allow the sensors contained within the cassette(s) to determine the conditions within the body of the container.
5. The opening referred to in Claim 3 may be in the top bottom sides or ends of the body and the cassette(s) secured to the appropriate face or faces of the body.
6. The body may bb provided with wheels or skids or runners to allow ease of movement or eyes for lifting purposes. If the body is to be placed on to the cassette, i.e. with the opening referred to in Claims 1 and 5, in the bottom of the body the wheels, skids or runners would be attached to the cassette.
