Description

SPECIFICATION Prefabricated facade The invention relates to a prefabricated facade comprising shaped upright members and crossbar member which define frame areas and glass panes or filling panels which are fixed in the frame areas and the edges of which are masked at the outside by shaped cover members.
According to the invention there is provided a prefabricated facade comprising upright members and crossbar members which define frame areas and glass panes or filling panels which are fixed in the frame areas and the edges of which are masked at the outside by cover members, wherein plastics members extend between the cover members and the upright or crossbar members, the plastics members being of square or rectangular crosssection and having an anchoring bar portion engaging into a groove of C-shaped configuration in the upright or crossbar members, and the cover members are fixed to the plastics members by screw means.
Even in a heat-insulated construction, the bond between the upright or crossbar members of metal and the plastics insulating members can be made in a simple fashion.
In an advantageous embodiment, the plastics member has at least one chamber there within, in which there is disposed a flat metal bar. The flat metal bar is provided with bores for the screwthreaded shank of fixing screws forming said screw means to be screwed into or through the bar, whereby the cover members are fixed to the plastics member.
So that forces can be advantageously carried away from the panes or filling panels to the metal frame construction, the plastics member, in the corner regions of the frame areas, has passages for accommodating carrier pins. The carrier pins are fitted with one end into a bore in the crossbar or upright member while the other end is supported in a through bore in the flat metal bar. The carrier pins are preferably disposed in the region of filling block members for the glass panes or the filling panels so that forces are carried away from the panes by way of the carrier pins to the metal members of the facade.
The invention is diagrammatically illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a front view of part of a prefabricated facade according to the invention, with shaped cover members removed; Figure 2 shows a view in section taken on line ll-ll in Fig. 1; and Figure 3 shows a view in section taken on line Ill-Ill in Fig. 1.
A prefabricated facade which is intended for a building has frame areas which are defined at the inside and the outside by shaped metal members, in which glass panes 1 or filling panels are disposed. At the side which is towards the building, the shaped metal members are in the form of shaped upright members 2 and shaped crossbar members 3. The upright members 2 extend in a vertical direction, are disposed at a spacing from each other which determines the width of the frame areas, and extend in parallel relationship with each other. The crossbar members 3 are disposed between the upright members. The upright and crossbar members 2 and 3 which are made from metal have anchoring grooves 4, 5 for sealing strips 6 which are made from plastics material and which are supported agains the edge of the panes 1 which, in the illustrated embodiment, form insulating glazing. The upright and crossbar members are also provided at the side towards the glazing with a groove 7 which is of C-shaped configuration. An anchoring bar portion 8 of a shaped plastics member 9 which is square or rectangular in cross-section is fitted into the groove 7. The plastics member 9 has outside surfaces 10 and 11 which align with outside boundary surfaces 1 2 and 1 3 of the side walls of the groove 7.
The plastics member 9 illustrated in the drawings is provided with a plurality of chambers therewithin. A flat metal bar 1 5 is disposed in one 1 4 of the chambers. The flat bar 1 5 is provided with bores into or through which can be screwed a screwthreaded shank portion of a fixing screw 1 6 with which a shaped cover member 1 7 is fixed to the plastics member 9. The cover member 1 7 is provided with a U-shaped masking cover 1 8 having retaining tongue portions 1 8a which spring into retaining recesses in the cover member 1 7.
Provided between the cover member 1 7 and the plastics member 9 is a sealing member 1 9 which extends over the entire height of the cover member 1 7 and which is fixed by its fixing base portion 20 in a retaining recess 21 in the plastics member 9. The sealing member 1 9 has lips 22 which bear against the edge of the pane.
The sealing member 1 9 and the cover member 1 7 are provided with drain passages 23 for seepage water. Such seepage water is conducted to the exterior by way of a drain 24.
In corner regions of a frame area, the edges of the pane are supported on small filling block member 25. The members 25 lie on the outside surface of the plastics member 9 and on the boundary surface 2 of a side wall of the groove 7.
So that the loading of the glass panes is transmitted to the metal members of the facade structure, the illustrated embodiment includes carrier pins 26 of metal, which are introduced into passages in the plastics member 9, such passages extending normal to the plane of the glass panes or filling panels.
The carrier pins each extend through a bore in the base wall 27 of the groove 7. The end of the carrier pin which extends through a bore in the base wall of the groove may be provided with a surface roughening, for example corrugation or knurling, for positively fixing the carrier pin in the walls of the bore.
The other end of the carrier pin is supported in a bore in the flat metal bar 1 5.
In the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, the plastics member 9 extends over the entire thickness of the insulated glazing
