Abstract
The device comprises a rigid cross member 1 for locating the feet under, a further cross member 3 which may have a protective sleeve of sponge material and may be covered in nylon fabric, and a flexible medium 2 such as a nylon cord or leather strap connecting the cross members so that the device may be placed under a door as shown. The flexible medium may instead consist of two spans at either end of the cross members. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Portable Sit Up Bar
This invention relates to a small portable sit up bar.
Sit up exercise bars have been with us for a long time now and usually take the form of some type of padded bench with a rigid cross-bar at one end to place the feet under for support, as one exercising curls the body from the head upwards towards the feet starting from a position laying on one's back.
I.E. This is commonly known as a sit-up.
The type of exercise equipment aforementioned is however, relatively expensive and rather large and heavy and one certainly could not take it on holiday on stash it away in one's handbag or in a draw or in a dresser.
Essential Tech Features
Relating now to my present invention which hereafter will be referred to for convenience as the apparatus.
The specification or description of which could be described as two separate rigid cross members each securely fastened at either end of a strong flexible medium, being secured at their centres and at 90 in relation to their parallel i.e. The plan view of such an apparatus would therefore form the same shape as a capital (I). The other main specification of the apparratus is it would have no actual moving parts as will become evident. In order for the apparatus to become functional it will be positioned under almost any household door as will be seen later.
EXAMPLE
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 shows in perspecting the apparatus (not in use with the three fundamental parts clearly numbered. 1-3.
Fig. 2. Shows the apparatus in position under a door.
Fig. 3. Shows (the apparatus) of side view in use.
Fig. 4. Shows more detailed drawing of component parts of apparatus, for which there are additional notes, as in Panel B of example.
As we have seen there fundamental parts to the apparatus;
1) Rigid cross member for placing the feet under
2) A flexible medium
3) Another rigid cross member which is sleeved in a protecting sleeve of sponge or similar material.
Then covered in a fabric such as nylon. This enables the apparatus to be used without damaging paintwork of the door etc., as for the basic design of the apparatus the cross members could be made from wood aluminium, or plastic tube etc., As with the flexible medium between them which could be nylon cord or a leather strap for example in a commercially mass produced version all three eiements which are fundamental to it's function could possibly be made from one moulding such as in the case of certain strong plastics and obviously the flexible medium could consist of two spans at either end of the cross members as opposed to one central span all of which could be regarded as differences of degree rather than design.
More inexpensive than similar larger equipment.
1. A small portable exercise bar (i.e. sit up only) which slips in position under almost any household door. Comprising of two rigid cross members secured by a flexible medium.
2. A small portable exercise bar as claimed in 1, that is light easy to use and adaptable for by nature of it's design for any size of feet.
3. A small portable exercise bar as claimed in 1 and 2, that has a protective spongy sleeve that will when in position not scratch or damage paintwork on doors.
4. A small portable exercise bar that when used properly and regularly will trim and firm stomach buttocks and thighs.
6. A small portable exercise bar described herein with reference to figures 1-4 of accompanying drawing.
