Abstract

The parking meter is provided with an advertisement carrier 20 comprising a frame 21 made from a resilient-elastic material (eg polyurethane elastomer or rubber), which has an advertisement carrier plate 25, 125 and a self-adapting profile corresponding to the shape of the upper parking meter casing wall. It also carries holding tongues 26, 27 laterally overlapping the parking meter casing 11 and which are connected to the parking meter casing side walls by means of adhesive-bonded joints. Due to the resilient-elastic construction of the advertisement carrier, the latter is protected against damage by bending, snapping off, etc. The pressure on impact action of the advertisement carrier follows the pressure or impact movement and then returns to its initial position when the pressure or impact action is removed. Thus, the full advertising effect is always retained and the parking meter casing is not destroyed. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Parking meter The invention relates to a parking meter with a carrier for advertisements, comprising a casing carried by a rod-like or tubular post with a coinoperable device for indicating the parking time arranged in said casing.

Advertisement carriers for parking meters are known, which comprise a plate carrying the advertisement and which are held by means of the plate-carrying U-shaped clips on the parking meter casing by means of screw connections. It is disadvantageous that these fastening clips are made from metallic materials and as a result of their rigid construction can easily be destroyed under pressure or tension action, either through being bent by wilful damage and consequently becoming unattractive, or by being torn off through violent bending over of the parking meter casing.

The problem of the present invention is to provide a parking meter with an advertisement carrier which, despite its integration into the parking meter casing, can avoid external pressure and impact effects and can be automatically moved back into its original position, so that its advertising function is in no way impaired. In addition, a parking meter is to be provided, whose advertisement carrier is illuminated.

According to the invention, this problem is solved by a parking meter of the type proposed hereinbefore and which is constructed in such a way that the advertisement carrier comprises a resilient-elastic material frame having a T-shaped cross-section, which is square or rectangular and whose width corresponds to the width of the parking meter casing, whereby the webs of the four sides of the frame carrying the two lateral side walls forming the outer frame boundary are inwardly directed and on one or both lateral faces carry an advertisement carrier plate, which is fixed to the all-round frame web, the frame section facing the upper parking meter casing also has a selfadapting profile corresponding to the shaping of the upper parking meter casing wall and the parking meter casing carries laterally overlapping holding lugs which are fixed to the parking meter casing side walls by means of adhesive-bonded joints.

Due to the fact that the frame holding and carrying the advertisement carrier plate is made from a resilient-elastic material, such as plastic, hard rubber or the like, a destruction or damage by bending, snapping off, etc is largely avoided, because in the case of pressure or impact action, the advertisement carrier follows the pressure or impact movement and moves back into its initial position when the pressure or impact action is removed, so that its full advertising effect is retained. A further advantage is that the frame can adapt to the different upper parking meter casing wall faces, which is made possible through the use of a resilient-elastic material for the frame. This also leads to a firm seating of the advertisement carrier, particularly by friction grip on the parking meter casing.

The invention also provides a construction in which the advertisement carrier can be illuminated.

The upper frame section of the advertisement carrier has at least one lighting source with a power source constructed in the form of a battery or the like. Through the arrangement of a lighting source with a mains-independent power source in the advertisement carrier, it is possible to illuminate the advertisement carrier plates, which further improves its advertising function.

Other advantageous developments of the invention can be gathered from the subclaims.

The invention is described in greater detail hereinafter relative to non-limitative embodiments and with reference to the attached drawings, wherein show: Figure 1 a parking meter with an advertisement carrier in a view from the front.

The per se known parking meter 10 shown in Figure 1 comprises a casing 11 having a coin-operable device 12 for indicating the parking time, the coin slot being indicated at 13. Casing 11, which is made from metallic materials, is fixed to the upper end 14a of a rod-like or tubular post 14.

An advertisement carrier 20 is arranged on the upper part of the parking meter casing 11 and comprises a frame 21 having a T-shaped cross-section made from resilient-elastic materials, such as plastics, e.g. a polyurethane elastomer, hard rubber, etc. The lateral side walls 21 a, 21b of the profile of frame 21 forming the outer frame boundary carry the inwardly directed web 21c, so that the webs 21c of the four sides of frame 21 are directed inwards and face one another. To the lateral faces of the said webs 21c are fixed carrier plates 25, 125, which carry on the outside advertisement details, texts, etc (Figure 3). However, it is also possible for the webs 21c to only carry an advertisement carrier plate 25 or 125 on one lateral face.The advertisement carrier plate 25, 125, which are fixed to the internal, all-round web 21c, can also be made from resilient-elastic materials.

Frame 21 is square or rectangular and has on its two lateral side walls 20a, 20b holding tongues 26, 27 which zonally overlap the parking meter casing 11 in its two lateral areas and which are fixed to the parking meter casing 11 by means of adhesivebonded joints.

Frame 21 has a shape corresponding to that of the parking meter casing 11, as is more particularly apparent from Figure 2. This parking meter 10 has a specially shaped casing 11, which is adapted to the frame 21 of advertisement carrier 20. Due to the fact that frame 21 is made from resilient-elastic materials, lower side wall 21c (Figure 2) can be adapted to any shape of the upper side wall of parking meter casing 11. As the holding tongues 26, 27 are also elastic, they readily adapt to the shape of the side walls of parking meter casing 11, so that the advertisement carrier 20 is universally usable.

With respect to the resilient-elastic materials, particular preference is given to those having a certain recovery capacity or a rubber elasticity, in order to be able to at least damp impacts. Thus, besides plastics from the polyurethane group, it is also possible to use silicone rubbers which, apart from a certain elasticity, also have a certain incompressibility.

Each advertisement carrier plate 25 or 125 can be provided with a slide-in pocket 30, which is used for receiving correspondingly shaped blanks made from cardboard, paperboard, plastic, etc, said blanks carrying special advertisements, slogans, etc. These slide-in pockets 30 are made from transparent foil.

Frame 21 of advertisement carrier 20 has at least one battery-operated lighting source 40 (Figures 4 and 5) in order to give the advertisement on the advertisement carrier plate 25 or 125 an eyecatching effect, particularly at dusk or at night. The power source is 41. The lighting source 40 can either be arranged on one or both sides of the advertisement carrier plates 25, 125, if only one advertisement carrier plate is provided in frame 21.

However, if two advertisement carrier plates 25, 125 are provided, the lighting source 40 is positioned in the gap between the two spaced advertisement carrier plates 25, 125, the latter being made from a transparent or translucent material.

The lighting source 40 is preferably arranged in the upper side wall 21d of frame 21 of advertisement carrier 20.

Claims

1. A parking meter with an advertisement carrier comprising a casing carried by a rod-like or a tubular post with a coin-operable device for indicating the parking time arranged therein, wherein the advertisement carrier comprises a resilientelastic material frame having a T-shaped cross-section, which is square or rectangular and whose width corresponds to the width of the parking meter casing, whereby the webs of the four sides of the frame carrying the two lateral side walls forming the outer frame boundary are inwardly directed and on one or both lateral faces carry an advertisement carrier plate, which is fixed to the all-round frame web, the frame section facing the upper parking meter casing also has a self-adapting profile corresponding to the shaping of the upper parking meter casing wall and the parking meter casing carries laterally overlapping holding lugs which are fixed to the parking meter casing side walls by means of adhesive-bonded joints.

2. A parking meter according to claim 1, wherein there is at least one lighting source with a power source in the form of a battery or the like arranged in the upper frame section of the advertisement carrier.

3. A parking meter according to claims 1 and 2, wherein the advertisement carrier plate is made from resilient-elastic plastics.

4. A parking meter according to claims 1 to 3, wherein each advertisement carrier plate has at least one slide-in pocket made from a transparent foil for receiving correspondingly dimensioned blanks of cardboard, paperboard, plastic foil, etc.

5. A parking meter according to claims 1 to 4, wherein the advertisement carrier plate is made from transparent or translucent materials and the lighting source is arranged in the interior of the two spaced advertisement carrier plates.

6. A parking meter according to Claim 1, and substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
