Abstract

An animal feeding bowl has a base with a depression to receive replaceable, thin film "throwaway" liners, conveniently of vacuum formed plastics material in a shape that allows them to stack nesting in one another. The liners have a projecting flange and the depression a hole in the bottom to aid removal. The base may have two depressions, each to receive a liner, with one being for solids and the other for liquids. Alternatively the liner may have two compartments. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements Relating to Animal Feeding Bowls This invention relates to animal feeding bowls.
Cats' and dogs' bowls have to be regularly washed up, and to most people it is unacceptable to do this with the rest of the kitchen crockery. On the other hand, it is wasteful and time-consuming to use a separate basin of hot water to clean just one bowl.
It is the aim of this invention to resolve these problems.
According to the present invention there is provided an animal feeding bowl comprising a base with an upwardly open depression, and a replaceable thin film liner which closely fits said depression.
Thus, when the animal has finished its meal, the liner can be removed and thown away. It can be made in thin, vacuum formed plastics material, which makes it economically acceptable.
Conveniently, the liner will be shaped so that similar liners will nest with one another, and packets of nested liners could be sold along with the pet food.
Generally, the liner will have a lip or flange projecting beyond the depression to ease its removal, and in addition the depression may have a hole, preferably at its lowermost point, through which a finger can be pressed to help release the liner by engagement with its underside. The hole also ensures that the base alone is not used as the bowl.
The base and liner can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes and the liner may be divided into compartments, one for solids and the other for liquid. Alternatively, the base may have more than one depression to receive a plurality of liners.
It is also possible that the manufacturers o, ,,et food could sell their product packaged in such liners, sealing them with removable lids-for example tear-off foils.
An example is shown in the accompanying drawing, which is a vertical section through a feeding bowl.
1.An animal feeding bowl comprising a base with an upwardly open depression and a replaceable thin film linerwhich closely fits said depression.
2. A bowl as claimed in claim 1, wherein the liner is of vacuum formed plastics material.
3. A bowl as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the liner is shaped so that similar liners nest with one another.
4. A bowl as claimed in claim 1,2 or 3, wherein the liner has a lip or flange to project beyond the depression to ease removal.
5. A bowl as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the depression has a hole therethrough to provide finger access to the underside of the liner.
6. A bowl as claimed in claim 5, wherein the hole is at the lowermost point of the depression.
7. A bowl as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the liner provides more than one compartment.
8. A bowl as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the base has more than one depression to receive a plurality of liners.
9. A bowl as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the liner is part of a food pack, and has a removable lid.
10. An animal feeding bowl substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
