Lock mechanism, trustee; tumbler-type locks, attaching; key-holes, obstructing.-A trustee lock in which a custodian's bolts locks the door and is blocked by a lessee's bolt, has two sets of spring- less pivoted tumblers controlling the lessee's bolt, and is readily secured to or removed from a door by operating a sliding bolt co-operating with notched posts on the door and controlled by the lessee's bolt. Fig. 3 shows the lock in its unlocked condition. To lock, the custodian's' bolt 5, governed by springless tumblers 14 having gatings 35 co-operating with a stud 15 on the bolt, is shot by the key 61 which works in slots 16 in the tumblers and is double bitted to prevent the tumblers from being flicked upwards beyond their releasing position if the key is turned sharply. This bolt 5 is then blocked by shooting forward the lessee's bolt 6 by the key 64. This bolt is governed by two sets of tumblers 20, 21, each having shanks 27, 26 which interengage to mutually prevent any tumblers from flicking past the releasing position if the key is turned rapidly. These tumblers co-operate with bolt stumps 24, 25. The lessee's bolt, 6 has also a, cam slot 33 which, when the bolt is shot, causes a doublearmed lever 30, 31, pivoted at 29, to rock, and blocks it in the position in which it prevents the tumblers 14 from being lifted to release the bolt 5. Retraction of the lessee's bolt releases these tumblers for operation by their key. The corner 6b of the lessee's bolt, when shot, prevents complete insertion of the custodian's key. The lock is releasably secured to the door by hanging it on posts 42 fitting into holes 43 in the casing and securing it by engaging notches 70 in these posts by a bolt 40. Fig. 5 shows the lock secured to the door by the bolt 40 engaging the posts 42 and locked against operation for release by a tumbler 47 pivoted to the casing at 45. The end 73 of this tumbler engages a lug 51 on the bolt. A peg 10 on the lessee's bolt works in an inclined slot 48 in the tumbler so that when the lessee's bolt is fully shot, the bolt 40 is blocked as shown in Fig. 5, and when the lessee's bolt is fully retracted, it moves the tumbler 47 in the position indicated by II in Fig. 5 so that its end 50 engages the face 75 of the gating in the bolt 40 and blocks it. To release the bolt 40 from the posts to remove the lock, the lessee's bolt is half withdrawn so that the bolt 40 is not blocked by the tumbler 47, which can then be moved by the finger-piece 41 out of engagement with the posts 42. The bolt 40 may be further locked by the follower 55 of a revolving barrel lock 54<a>, the key of which is retained by a bank director so that no removal of the lock is possible without his co-operation.
