Abstract

The device comprises a plug 3, body 4, locking ring 5, washer 6, and circlip 7. When all parts are assembled and placed into a hole the device will make an effective seal by expansion of body 4. The device need only be fitted or withdrawn from the external side of containers, tanks, pipes, etc. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Multi-purpose drain or sealing plug This invention relates to a Multi-purpose Drain or Sealing Plug.
Conventional Drain or Sealing Plugs are fitted to all known containers, tanks, vessels, pipes, etc where release of oil, liquids, air, gas, or other known substances are required at some time, or a sealing plug is fitted to repair a leaky container, tank, vessel, pipe, etc.
The fitting of a Drain or Sealing Plug usually requires the drilling of a hole, welding a boss or flang with thread on any known metal and threading in a sealing bolt, or in the case of other materials some means of adhering the boss, flang has to be found.
In the case of a leaking container, tank, vessel, pipe, etc has to be drained and some method has to be found to facilitate a repair.
Thus the fitting of a conventional Drain or Sealing Plug is time consuming and relatively expensive.
According to the present invention there is provided a Drain or Sealing Plug manufactured in metal, nylon, plastic, or any known material.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which drawing 1 Fig. 1 shows in perspective the exploded view of the components of the Drain or Sealing Plug.
Drawing 2 Fig. 2 illustrates the assembled view.
Drawing 3 illustrates Drain or Sealing Plug fitted.
Drawings 1, 2, and 3 are not to scale.
Refering tothe drawings, the Drain or Sealing Plug comprises of 5 component parts.
Plug 3, body 4, locking ring 5, washer 6, circlip 7.
In order to fit the Drain or Sealing Plug the component 3 is fitted into 4, locking ring 5 is screwed onto 3, washer 6 fitted, circlip 7 retains 6, in the assembled state the locking ring 5 abuts washer 6.
The assembled plug drawing 2 Fig. 2 is now placed in drain hole, locking ring 5 is now screwed down, this action causes plug 3 to enter and expand body 4, effectively sealing the hole, drawing 3 Fig. 3.
To remove Drain or Sealing Plug locking ring 5 is unscrewed to abut washer 6, the centre is struck driving plug 3 down body 4.
The complete Drain or Sealing Plug can now be removed.
