Abstract

A predetermined amount of a diluent which mixes with a liquid leaking out of a liquid inlet of a container to dilute the liquid is poured into a recess formed in the liquid inlet, with the base part defined by a stopper fitted into the liquid inlet. The electrical conductivity of the diluted liquid in the recess is then measured. The leakage of liquid from the liquid inlet is detected by detecting whether the measured value is higher or lower than a predetermined level. This leakage detection method is particularly useful for detecting the leakage of beer from a barrel.
