Abstract

The method for manufacturing steel in an oxygen converter from metal iron-containing materials, particularly from scrap material, provides for loading said materials, which are then heated and melted by supplying oxygen-containing gas, i.e. oxygenated air, from below, and the oxygen sideways. During melting, the content of oxygen in the oxygen-containing gas, supplied from below, is increased up to 100 % and afterwards the refining of the ferro-carbonaceous melt takes place.
