A coal slurry transport ship provided with vertically movable means for dewatering the slurry. The means can comprise either: a floating frame 105 (Fig. 18) equipped with a pump 110 and a filter 107, or a drain tube 44 (Fig. 8) with a filter portion 47 and an underwater pump 59. <IMAGE>
