Description

SPECIFICATION Drawer The invention relates to a drawer guided in the furniture body by means of a pull-out guide assembly comprising on each side a supporting rail at the side of the body and a pull-out rail at the side of the drawer, a roller carrier with rollers being arranged between the pull-out rail and the supporting rail, with one pull-out rail of the pull-out guide as sembly located at each side wall and held thereto in the pull-out direction of the drawer by engaging, by means of a stop, behind the hook of a resilient tongue which is fastened to the side wall.
Two kinds of pull-out guide assemblies for drawers are known in the state of the art in which the roller are not directly fastened to the rails but arranged in a separate roller carrier. Best known are the so-called ball roller pull-out guides in which the load transmission between the rails is effect by means of steel balls which are held in a roller carrier designed as a ball cage.
Such pull-out guides are very precise, i.e.
they guarantee excellent running of the drawer and permit at the same time a good fit of the drawer in the body, i.e. the drawer is laterally as well as vertically guided in a very stable manner. Such pull-out guide assemblies are mounted, in particular, into high quality furniture, e.g. office furniture.
It is the disadvantage of such pull-out assemblies that the rails must have complicated profiles to define the rolling tracks of the balls. It is a further disadvantage that the rails of such pull-out guides cannot be provided with a coating as such a coating, in particular of plastic material, would be damaged by the steel balls.
This disadvantage does not occur with pullout guide assemblies with cylindrical rollers arranged in a roller carrier.
Drawers with ball roller pull-out guides are known now in which the pull-out rails are anchored to the side walls of the drawer such that they are pushed with a stop behind a hook of a resilient locking latch. Said locking latch moves resiliently away from the side wall in the direction towards the body side wall and engages in the vertical flange of the respective pull-out rail.
Thus, exclusively an anchoring of the pullout rail to the drawer side wall is obtained.
Deliberations with respect to the positioning of the parts of the guide assembly are not required because ball roller pull-out guides must be built very precisely from the start to ensure functioning of the pull-out guide assembly.
It is the object of the invention to provide a drawer of the above-mentioned kind in which the pull-out rail can also be quickly anchored to the side walls of the piece of furniture and which, particularly when used for pull-out guide assemblies with roller carriers having rollers instead of balls, contribute to the alignment of the individual parts, thus allow ing certain tolerances without impairing the functioning of the pull-out guide assembly and permitting, in particular, the use of resilient plastic rollers in the pull-out guide assembly.
According to the invention this is achieved in that the resilient tongue is pivotable parallel to the drawer side wall and that the stop of the pull-out rail is formed at the running flange, and that the back of the resilient tongue opposite the hook extends upwardly towards the front in an oblique manner and forms a stop ramp for the running flange of the supporting rail.
Due to the design according to the invention, the resilient tongue serves two purposes, i. e. first holding the pull-out rail, and second aligning the drawer, when the latter-mentioned is fully inserted into the furniture body.
Furthermore, the anchoring of the pull-out rail is improved because the drawer itself presses by means of its weight the hook of the resilient tongue against the stop of the pullout rail.
It may advantageously be provided that a clamping cam for the running flange of the supporting rail is provided at the back of the resilient tongue.
By means of this resilient clamping cam the drawer which is fully inserted in the body is securely held in this position.
One embodiment provides that the resilient tongue is formed at a separate holding member insertable into a groove of the drawer side wall which also receives the pull-out rail, said holding member having above the resilient tongue a lateral stop for the pull-out rail. Due to this embodiment the fit of the pull-out rail in the groove of the drawer side wall is improved.
A further embodiment of the invention provides that the holding member has a flange or the like limiting the inserting path of the drawer.
It is thus possible to freely select the inserting path of the drawer, i. e. the holding member can also be located at a distance from the front plate of the drawer if it is desired that the front plate is at a distance from the supporting rail, when the drawer is in the closed position.
An embodiment, in which particularly quick fastening of the pull-out rail to the drawer side walls is possible, provides that the supporting rails and the pull-out rails have lateral front and rear stops so that the afore-mentioned and the roller carriers form at each side of the drawer a unit which are movable relative towards each other but which cannont be disassembled.
This has the advantage that, when the piece of furniture is mounted, the pull-out guide assembly can be supplied as a closed unit and fastened to the body side wall. The drawer can, when the furniture body has been completely mounted, be fitted onto the pull-out guide assembly, which substantially facilitates furniture production.
Below an embodiment of the invention will be described in more detail with reference to the figures of the drawing in which Figure 1 shows a side view of a pull-out guide assembly according to the invention with the drawer in the extracted position, Figure 2 shows a vertical section of the drawer assembly according to the invention, and Figure 3 shows a horizontal view of the front region of the pull-out rail and the holding member.
In the following description reference will be made only to one side of the drawer and hence of the pull-out guide assembly because the second side is obviously analogously designed in the manner of the mirror image.
The pull-out guide assembly comprising in a conventional manner at each side of the drawer a supporting rail 1 at the side of the body and a pull-out rail 2 at the side of the drawer, with a roller carrier 3 mounted inbetween. Rollers 4 are arranged in the roller carrier 3, which rollers have horizontal axes of rotation and serve for the actual load transmission. Compensating rollers 5 have vertical axes of rotation and are provided for laterally stabilizing the pull-out guide assembly and the drawer.
As can particularly be seen in Fig. 2, the supporting rail 1 is designed with a Z-profile, a first vertical flange 1' serving as a fastening flange and a second vertical flange 1" serving as a lateral guiding flange. The central horizontal flange 1" forms the actual running flange of the supporting rail 1.
The pull-out rail 2 has a U-profile with two horizontal flanges 2', 2"' and a vertical central connecting flange 2" and an outer limiting flange 6.
While the rollers 4 of the roller carrier 3 roll at the flanges 2', 1" and 2"', the compensating rollers 5 roll at the flanges 1' and 2" and 1"' and at the limiting flange 6. Since the supporting rail 1, the pull-out rail 2 and the roller carrier 3 are designed without clearance, the whole pull-out guide assembly is laterally stable.
The supporting rail 1 is further provided with a front stop 7 and the pull-out rail 2 with a rear stop 8 so that the pull-out rail 2 cannot be pulled down from the supporting rail 1 unintentionally.
In the embodiment, the supporting rail 1 is further provided with a rear stop 9.
The pull-out rail 2 is fastened in a groove of the drawer side wall 10. At the front end of said groove directly behind the front plate 11 of the drawer a holding member 1 2 is arranged. In the embodiment, said holding member 1 2 has two pins 1 3 which extend into corresponding holes 14 in the bottom of the groove, thus holding already the holding member 1 2 in the direction of the depth of the drawer.
A resilient tongue 14 carrying a hook 1 5 is moulded to the holding member 1 2.
When the drawer is pushed onto the pullout rail 2, said hook 1 5 engages in a recess 1 6 in the lower flange 2' which forms the running flange of the pull-out rail 2, said flange 2' having an angular portion 1 7 directly before the recess 1 6. In this manner, the pull-out rail 2 is firmly connected to the drawer.
Due to the fact that the pull-out rail 2 need not in a conventional manner be fastened to the drawer side wall before final mounting of the pull-out guide assembly and then together with said side wall be pushed onto the roller carrier 3 and the supporting rail, it is possible to design the pull-out guide assembly substantially without clearance and thus essentially improve the running properties of the pull-out guide assembly.
In Fig. 1, a stop cam 18 is indicated on the resilient tongue 14 with dotted lines. Said stop cam 1 8 clamps the running flange of the supporting rail 1, when the drawer is in the inserted position.
The holding member 1 2 further has an upper lateral stop 1 9 projecting between the vertical flange 2" and the limiting flange 6 of the pull-out rail 2, when the pull-out rail 2 is in the inserted position.
At the lower side the pull-out rail 1 2 is provided with a flange 20 which defines the end of the inserting path of the drawer.
