Description
SPECIFICATION
A wallet for disc film negatives
The invention relates to a wallet for disc film negatives, comprising a carton sheet having four concertina-folded sections, the wallet having a first pocket formed between two said sections adjacent to each other by sticking one to the other along their adjacent edges. and a second pocket formed on a third said section which can be separated along one edge from the rest of the wallet. Such wallets are known.
The aim of the present invention is to develop such a wallet further so that it is particularly suitable for the so-called disc film negatives. Such disc film negatives are discs in which the negatives of the individual photographs are arranged in the form of a circle on a plastics disc.
Particular suitability of disc film negatives means specifically that when they are examined (e.g. for the purpose of ordering other prints) they need not be touched by hand. The aim is that in any manipulation of the disc film negative, which may take place during the inspection, the negative is guaranteed to remain free of finger marks which would damage the negative. However manipulation and inspection should be simple and uncomplicated.
This aim is achieved according to the invention in that the second pocket is formed by two transparent foils which are stuck on the third section and cover an opening of the size to receive a disc film negative.
In this way a pocket for the disc film negative is formed by two transparent foils. The disc film negative can be inspected through the transparent foils, because the region in which the disc film negative is situated within the pocket, is a circular opening. The section containing the pocket can be torn off and folded into an envelope. One of the transparent foils forming the pocket is then torn off in the laboratory. The disc film negative is then ready for processing (enlargements).
One embodiment of the invention and its advantageous modification will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective illustration of a first embodiment;
Figure 2 is a second perspective illustration of a first embodiment;
Figure 3 is a perspective illustration of section 6; and
Figure 4 is a perspective illustration of a second embodiment.
The wallet consists of a concertina-folded sheet 1 of paper or carton, formed substantially of sections 2 and 3, which can be closed one on top of the other in the manner of a book, from a section 5, which can be folded on the edge 4 through 1 800 relative to the section 3, and of a section 6 which may be folded relative to section 5. The sections 3 and 5 are stuck together along their adjacent edges - e.g. 5' and 3'; between the sections 3 and 5 of the carton sheet 1 is thereby formed a pocket 7 in which - as shown by the arrow 8 -- - may be inserted enlarged prints e.g. ofsize7xiOor9xi3cm.
The section 6 is provided with a circular opening 9 stamped therein. The position of this opening 9, by which a free region is formed, is such that it is spaced from the edges of an imaginary half of the section 6 by a distance of about 10 mm. The diameter of the circular openings 9 is e.g. 65 mm.
On both sides of the section 6 are stuck transparent foils 10, 1 1; on the side shown in Figure 1 is stuck the transparent foil 10 and on the side shown in Figure 2 is stuck the transparent foil 11. Both cover the free regions formed by the opening 9. The sticking takes place along the diagrammatically illustrated sticking regions 12 (transparent foil 10) or 13 (transparent foil 1 1 ) shown by hatching. In the region of the opening 9 is thereby formed by the two transparent foils 10 and 11 a pocket 14 in which can be inserted a disc film negative 16, as shown by the arrow 1 5.
Because the size of the openings 9 is approximately the same as the size of a disc film negative 16, the negative positioned between the two transparent foils 10 and 11 may be inspected without having to be removed from the pocket 14 which protects the disc film negative 1 6 from both sides. The disc film negative need not therefore be removed from the pocket 14 for inspection for the purpose of selection for further orders of prints.
The negatives cannot therefore be damaged by fingerprints etc.
The sticking regions 1 2 along which the transparent foil 10 is stuck on the side of the section 6 of the carton sheet 1 illustrated in Figure 1, do not reach up to the edge 17 of the transparent foil 10 facing the imaginary centre line 20. The transparent foil 10 is not stuck to the section 6 along the edge 1 7. Because the ends 12' and 12" of the sticking region 1 2 do not reach the edge 1 7 a person in the laboratory may easily insert his thumb below the edge 1 7 - as is illustrated by the lightly standing off corner 1 7' - and pull off the transparent foil 10 from the section 6 in the direction indicated by the arrow 19. Then the disc film negative 1 7 can be removed.The distance of the end 12' of the sticking region 12 from the edge 1 7 is about 2.5 cm, the distance of the end 12" of the sticking region 12 of the edge 17 is 0.5 to 0.1 cm. The removalability of the transparent foil 10 is very important for manipulation in the laboratory.
An approximately semi-circular tab 21 starting at the imaginary centre line 20 of the section 6 is stamped in the section 6. After insertion of the disc film negative 1 6 the tab 21 can be pressed out from below (from below in Figure 1) so that its portion remote from the centre line 20, which was originally situated (as shown in Figure 1) below the transparent foil 10, now overlaps the edge 1 7 and forms a lock which prevents the disc film negative 1 6 from falling out of the pocket 1 4.
To enabie the whole wallet to be closed the upper surface (in Figure 1 ) of the section 6 is in the vicinity of the edge 1 7 provided with an adhesion region 30. This adhesion region 30 extends in the embodiment mostly along the centre line 20 and is about 0.5 to 1 cm wide. On the upper side (Figure 1 ) of the section 2 of the carbon sheet 1 is a further adhesion region 31.
Also this region lies along an imaginary centre line, so that when the wallet is folded (see arrow 22) the adhesion region 31 is in contact with the adhesion region 30 whereby a releasable adhesive closure is formed. In this closed form the customer usually receives his enlargement from the photo laboratory. The enlargements are situated in the first pocket 7 between the two sections 3 and 5; the disc film negative 1 7 is in the second pocket 14.
The section 6 can be separated along the edge 34 from the rest of the wallet. In this case the disc film negative is still in the pocket 14. Additional orders may then be written in the region of the section 6 which is not covered by the transparent foil 10 - in a box which is there printed without, as mentioned, needing to take out the disc film negative 1 6 out of the pocket 14. As is shown in Figure 3, the section 6 can then be folded along the line 20 (arrow 35), so that a simple small "envelope" in the side of a half of the section 6 may be in this practical way handed to the photo laboratory.
The second embodiment according to Figure 4 differs from the first embodiment as follows: the transparent foil 11 is stuck on the rear side (shown in Fig. 4) of the section 6, which is the rear side of the carton sheet 1, along three regions 13', 13", 13"' and also along a fourth region 13"". The regions 13' and 13" end about 10 mm from the edge 6'. The foil is not stuck along the edge 6'. In this way a further pocket 24 is formed which may also serve for the insertion of the disc film negative in the direction indicated by the arrow 25. This is practical for the processing in the laboratory when the pocket 14 has been opened by pulling off the transparent foil and thereby destroyed and when, before the disc film negative
16 is inserted in a new wallet, the disc film negative should be during a process step protected in a pocket.
