A portable digital displacement-measuring machine prevents count or display errors due to external noise. At least some of electronic circuits (16, 46, 66) contained within the body of this machine are surrounded by equipotential zones (12, 20, 50, 70), and the contact points of an article being measured with measuring elements (14, 44, 64) are electrically insulated from the body of the machine containing the electronic circuits.
