Abstract

Protection and guidance means for traction drive means and energy supply lines of a mineral extraction machine comprises two separate channels (3, 3') for the reception of a drive run and a return run of the traction drive means, a longitudinal slot arranged in the region of the drive run channel (3) for the passage of abutment means of the machine, and a further channel (5) for the supply lines, the further channel extending parallel to the traction drive means channels (3, 3') and being screened off from the travel field. The longitudinal slot is blocked at one or more locations in a length section of the protection and guidance means by a latching device (11) actuable by the machine. The channels (3, 3', 5) are defined by three members (8, 9, 10), the screw connections of which point laterally towards the travel field. The base of the channel (5) for the supply lines consists of individual web-like frame elements (18). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Drive and energy supply to a mining machine The present invention relates to protective guide means for traction drive means and energy supply lines of a mining machine.
Extraction machines are usually guided and moved back and forth at a work face conveyor.
The drive of the machine is effected either by traction means driven from the work face end or by drive means integrated in the machine. There are different methods for the supply of energy to the machine.
For example, energy-conducting lines can be dragged by the machine, and deposited at the backfilling side, in a cable channel built onto the conveyor. In that case, the lines are guided individually or are bundled within a cable chain.
It is also known to deposit the supply lines on the traction means in a housing fastened to the conveyor. For this purpose, the traction means is provided with support strips.
In another energy supply arrangement for extraction machines, the energy-conducting lines are dragged by the machine in a channel which is open at one side. This channel is disposed beside the load or drive run of the traction means channel and is open towards the latter channel. The supply lines are deposited on non-driven rollers arranged within the cable channel and bear on the traction means at the open side of the channel. When this cable channel is arranged at the backfilling side, the supply lines are conducted thereto through the sword of the extraction machine.
This last-mentioned arrangement however, has the disadvantage that, due to the continuous slot between the cable channel and traction means channel, the supply lines are not completely protected from damage by the traction means.
There is thus a need to improve this energy supply equipment so as to prevent damaging contact of the traction means with the supply lines but without hindering feeding of the supply lines through the sword to the extraction machine. Moreover, the channels for the traction means and the supply lines should be screened off from the travel field, yet simple assembly and disassembly of the channels should be possible from the travel field in order to gain access to the traction means and the supply lines. The channel for the supply lines should preferably have as simple as possible a construction.
According to the present invention there is provided protection and guidance means for the traction drive means and the supply lines of a mining extraction machine, which has a respective separate channel for the reception of the drive run and the return run, a longitudinal slot for the penetration of abutment means of the machine being provided in the region of the drive run, and a further channel, extending parallelly to the traction drive means channels and screened off from the travel field, for the supply lines laid out extended, the longitudinal slot for the penetration of the abutment means being blocked at one or more places of a length section of the protection and guidance means by a latching device actuated by the machine, and that the channels for the traction drive means and the surly lines comprising three attachment parts, the screw connections of which point laterally towards the travel field. The latching device ensures a secure screening of the supply lines from the traction drive means. In that case, the slot is opened only briefly through raising of pivot parts by the sword-like connecting piece of the machine. The traction drive means channels arranged one above the other with the supply lines channel arranged alongside are so designed that they are screwed together from three attachment parts, wherein the screw connections are easily accessible laterally from the travel field.
Optimum amenability to maintenance is provided by this construction. It is also important, for the protection and for the guidance of the traction drive means and the supply lines, that the channel with the supply lines is securely screened off from the travel field so that, for example, any danger to miners at the work face is excluded in the event of damage of lines carrying high-pressure fluid.
In a preferred embodiment, a simple but robust construction of the base of the supply line channel with webs ensures that extracted material, which may penetrate into this channel from the traction drive means channels, can freely fall out to the floor of the seam. This is also promoted by the fact that this frame of the supply lines channel can end above the floor of the seam, so that the material is freed on jerking of the work face conveyor and the channels.
Embodiments of the present invention will now be more particularly described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 is a cross-section of guide means embodying the invention, shown in a mining drift; Fig. 2 is a cross-section, to an enlarged scale, of the guide means; Fig. 3 is a side elevation of part of the guide means, showing one form of latching device therein; and Fig. 4 is a side elevation of part of the guide means, showing another form of latching device therein.
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown in Fig. 1 aii extraction machine 1, which is moved back and forth along work face conveyor 2 and parallelly thereto, the machine being disposed at the work face side. Traction drive means channels 3 and 3', in which a drive run 4 and a return run 4' of the traction drive means are housed, are disposed on the conveyor 2 at the backfilling side.
A channel 5 for supply lines 6 is arranged beside the channels 3 and 3'.
A sword 7 of the extraction machine 1 extends below the conveyor 2.
The channels 3, 3' and 5 are formed by three attachment parts 8, 9 and 10 secured together by screw-threaded elements. The part 8 covers the supply lines 6 upwardly, covers the return run 4' and the drive run 4 at the conveyor side, and also separates the run 4' from the run 4. The second part 9 screens the supply lines 6 from the travel field 17 and from the floor of the seam and also extends below the run 4. The third part 10 separates the supply lines 6 from the runs 4 and 4' with the aid of latching devices 11.
The base of the channel 5 is formed by weblike frame elements 18, on which the supply lines 6 are pulled. Synthetic material, for example plastics material, coverings 19, which improve the sliding of the supply lines 6, can be arranged at tne upper side of the frame elements 1 8.
Carrier rollers 20, on which the supply lines rest, can also be additionally arranged between the elements 18.
The abutment regions of individuai length sections of the guide means are screened by flexible covers (not shown) from the travel field 17. Gaps arising on kinking of the guide strand are thereby bridged over.
Fig. 3 shows one form of one of the latching devices 11 covering over a longitudinal slot 12 between the channel 3 and the channel 5. The latching device 11 has the form of a one-piece pivot member 13 with downwardly rounded end pieces 14 and 14'. The pivot member 13 can pivot up and down on an axle 1 5. This movement is performed by the abutment means, penetrating through the slot 12, of the sword 7 of the machine 1. By engagement underneath the pivot member 13, this member is raised at its end piece 14, while the other end piece 14' is pivoted downwardly. In this manner, the slot 12 is opened only for the engagement of the sword 7.
Another form of the latching device 11 is illustrated in Fig. 4. In this case the device 11 consists of several elements, namely of two bars 16 and 16' and a pivot member 13' arranged thereabove and pivotably mounted on an axle 15'.
The bar 16, sliding in respective guides, is shown raised by the abutment means of the sword 7 of the machine 1, while the other bar 16' is pushed downwardly in its guides by the pivot member 13'.
