Abstract

A method of making a patterned multi-laminar article, comprises arranging an overlying layer, from which the pattern is formed, on an underlying multi-laminar material, said underlying material comprising at least a bottom layer and a top layer, with a laminar of an activatable adhesive between each pair of adjacent layers. Applying pressure to said layers by means of a die which is shaped to correspond to the desired pattern; activating the laminar of adhesive adjacent the overlying layer is activated over at least part of the surface area of the pattern to be applied in order to adhere the part of the overlying layer corresponding to the pattern to the underlying material; activating the adhesive between the layers of the underlying material is activated in order to adhere the layers of the underlying material together; and thereafter removing part of the overlying layer from the underlying material whereby only the pattern defined by the die remains attached to the underlying material. <IMAGE>
