Abstract

211,778. Edwards, F., and Robinson, O. N. July 2, 1923. Belts. - An elastic link-belt for use on motor vehicles &c. comprises side plates arranged in pairs secured together at a short distance apart with a flat spiral spring arranged therebetween at each end, alternating with and connected by intermediate links the hooked or looped ends of which embrace the springs. The side plates A, separated by distance pieces G are secured together by preferably tubular rivets B which project and are expanded to retain outer covering pieces in position. Around each rivet pin B is arranged a flat spiral spring D, preferably formed as shown in Fig. 9, in three widths, an anchoring part D' engaging an enlargement E of the rivet hole, an intermediate, part D" serving as a distance piece between the side plates and a part D tapered or otherwise reduced to serve as the spring proper. The intermediate links H may be in the form of double hooks as shown or may completely enclose the spring at one end, the intermediate part H<1> being curved to increase the resiliency.
