Rolling - machines ; moulding sweetmeats. - In the manufacture of sticks of lettered rock having names or other designs running throughout the length of the stick, the letters, numerals, or the like, and the fillers and spacings are made by rolling plastic sugar to the required thickness and to the shape or partially to the shape required by appropriate rolls, and the strips so produced are fed to trays adapted to act further on the strips to complete or approximately complete the formation of the letter. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement of rolls for forming the letters and spacings required for the lettering shown in Fig. 11. The shaded parts of Fig. 3 show the trays in section and their effect on the strips ; by suitably assembling the strips so produced, and, in the case of the letters B, C, turning over the ends by hand, the lettering shown in Fig. 11 can be obtained. Spacing pieces g<1>, Fig. 1, prevent the spreading of the sugar during rolling.
