Abstract

Snow clearing apparatus is based on a grass cutting machine having a cutting blade rotating about a vertical axis within a housing. A snow inlet guide is attached at the front of the housing and a discharge duct is attached to the rear of the housing, which duct can be varied to throw the expelled snow to either side of the machine. An additional blade to the brass cutting blade is fitted, the additional blade having axially upturned portions at its radial extremities to give extra lift to the chopped snow and propel it more firmly to the rear. The inlet guide and discharge duct may be fitted to the grass cutting machine quickly and simply, and the second blade need not be removed for grass cutting operations. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Domestic type snow blower My invention consists of 3 No. Main Parts.
No. 1 The Guide which when the machine is propelled forwards guides the snow into the blades.
No. 2 The Blades 2 No. one blade is existing and is used for mainly cutting grass and to give sufficient lift to throw the grass into a box on the rear of the machine, this blade rotates at speed driven by a petrol engine, which chops up the snow and propels it to the rear. The Second Blade which is new, is shorter than the first, and is there to give extra lift to the chopped up snow and to propel the snow more firmly to the rear, this second blade can also contain two small brushes to clear slush.
No. 3 The Exhaust consists of an air guide fixed on the rear of the machine, which can be varied to throw the expelled snow to either one side or the other of the machine, as the machine is propelled forwards by hand.
The Guide No. 1 and The Exhaust No. 3 can be clipped to the grass cutter in a matter of seconds.
The Blade No. 2 is fixed permanently to the existing blade by screwed fasteners and this is left thus all year round.
Claims
1. Snow clearing apparatus which comprises a blade rotating within a housing, a guide for guiding snow towards the blade, and an exhaust for directing snow moved by the blade in a desired direction.
2. An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 adapted to be propelled along a snow covered surface in which the inlet guide is situated at the front of the housing for the blade.
3. An apparatus as claimed in either of claims 1 or 2 in which the blade which rotates within the housing has axially raised portions towards its radial extremities in order to give extra lift to the chopped up snow.
4. An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3 based on grass cutting machine from which the grass cutting blade helps chop up the snow and propel it to the rear.
5. An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4 in which the exhaust can be varied to throw expelled snow to either side of the apparatus.
6. An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4 in which the inlet guide and the exhaust are adapted to be quickly releasably securable to the blade housing.
7. An apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 6 in which the blade is in two portions, the first portion being suitable for cutting grass, and the second portion being shorter than the first and having axially upturned portions towards its radial extremities, the apparatus of both these blades in place being capable of cutting grass and of clearing snow.
8. An apparatus substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
