Abstract

A tubular cosmetics case, in particular for mascara, lipstick and the like, incorporates an extractable mirror (21). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Tubular cosmetics case, with an incorporated extractable mirror This invention relates to a tubular cosmetics case, in particular for lipstick, mascara and the like, with an incorporated extractable mirror, of which the combination and configuration of its component parts make it particularly useful.
The object of the invention is to provide a cosmetics case which enables the user to make herself up with the maximum comfort, without having to use independent mirrors.
These and further objects of the invention will be apparent to experts of the art on reading and description and claims given hereinafter.
The tubular cosmetics case, particularly for mascara, lipstick and the like, is essentially characterised by comprising an incorporated extractable mirror.
The invention is illustrated by way of non limiting example by the figures of the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an overall view of a lipstick case in its closed state; Figure 2 shows the case of Figure 1 in its component parts; Figures 3 and 4 are sections on the lines Ill-Ill and IV--IV of Figure 2 respectively; Figure 5 is an overall view of a mascara case in its closed state; Figure 6 shows the case of Figure 5 in its component parts, semi-open and with the mirror extracted, and Figure 7 is an exploded view of the case of Figure 5, with parts shown in section.
With reference to Figures 1 to 4, the case is constituted conventionally by a first element 1 for containing any mechanism (not shown) for the emergence and re-entry of the lipstick 3 from and into the protective tube 2, and'a closing cover 4.
The emergence and re-entry movement of the lipstick 3 is determined by rotating the element 1 relative to the tube 2.
The cover 4 comprises a first hollow part 5 of circular cross-section arranged to engage the tube 2, and a second hollow part 6, substantially tangential to the first hollow part 5, and designed to receive a mirror 7.
As is apparent from Figures 2 to 4, the mirror 7 is mounted on a frame 8 provided with side edges 9 designed to slide along, and be guided by, corresponding lateral portions of the second hollow part 6, and with a longitudinal slot 10 provided along the outer part of the base of the frame 8, and designed to cooperate at its opposing edges 10' and 10" with a projection 11 provided in proximity to the opening of the second hollow part 6.
When in the rest or non-use position shown in Figure 1, the unit comprising the mirror 7 and frame 8 is inserted into the hollow part 6 and is completely contained therein, and the cover 4 is mounted on the element 1 with the tube 2 engaging the hollow part 5. Suitable means, not shown because they are conventional, can be provided for preventing the involuntary withdrawal of the cover 4, and/or the rotation of this latter relative to the element 1.
When in use, the cover 4 is removed from the elem'ent 1, and the unit comprising the mirror 7 and frame 8 extracted from the hollow part 6, by engaging a notch 1 2 with a finger nail, until the edge 10' abuts against the projection 11. When the unit 7-8 is in its extracted position, the user is able to view herself in the mirror for the correct distribution of the lipstick on her lips.
When the operation has been completed, the unit 7-8 is reinserted into the hollow part 6 until the edge 10" abuts against the projection 1 and the cover 4 is again positioned on the element 1.
The function of the edges 10' and 10" and projection 11 is advantageous in that it prevents the unit 7-8 from becoming completely withdrawn from the cover 4, with the danger of loss.
The outer configuration of the element 1 matches the outer configuration of the cover 4, so that when the case is closed, its overall surface is possibly free from projections and/or sharp edges.
With reference to Figures 5 to 7, the case comprises a first plastics element 1 3 in which there is rigidly mounted a plastics bottle or container 14, holding the cosmetic, for example mascara. The threaded neck of the bottle extends beyond said element 13, and on it there is screwed a second element 1 5 constituting the cover, and carrying the implement (in this case a brush 16), which serves as the cosmetic applicator and is inserted into the bottle when the case is closed.
The bottle 14 does not occupy the entire inner space of the first element 13, but only a part bounded by a pair of intermediate longitudinal ribs 1 7, on the other side of which there remains a compartment 18 which is closed at the end from which the threaded neck 19 of the bottle projects, whereas it is open at the other end, i.e.
at the base of the case. The compartment 18 houses in a longitudinally slidable manner member 20 in which the mirror 21 is mounted, and which at its outer end comprises a wide wall 22 which covers the base of the first element and comprises one or more notches 23 to allow engagement by a finger nail when it is required to extract the mirror from its containing compartment 18.
When the bottle 14 has been inserted into the corresponding seat in the element 13, the bottle and element are joined together for example by ultrasonic welding.
When in use, the cover 1 5 is unscrewed from the neck 19 and is then removed, so that the brush 1 6 becomes extracted from the bottle 14.
The member 20 with its mirror is then extracted from the compartment 18 by engaging the notch present in the wall 22 with a finger nail. Usual means, not shown, consisting for example of a projection located in the compartment 1 8 and made to snap-penetrate into a longitudinal slot in the member 20 and abutting against the transverse end wall of said slot, prevent the member 20 from completely withdrawing accidentally. The user can thus apply the cosmetic while checking the operation in the mirror 21, which is then reinserted into the compartment 18 after use.
The outer configuration of the element 13 obviously matches the outer configuration of the cover 15, so that when closed, the case has an overall surface possibly free from projections and/or sharp edges. In addition, the case is preferably of plastics construction.
