Dishes.-The inner and outer walls of a jacketed vessel 1, particularly adapted for dispensing food, are united at the neck by an organic bonding material which is heat treated in situ to harden it and make it adhere, the joint being protected and concealed by a layer of a fusible alloy poured into the space between the walls above the hardened bonding material. The bonding material may be prepared from shellac, and the alloy may be composed of equal parts of lead, tin, and bismuth. The edges 10, 11 of the walls at the neck are rounded off to minimize chipping. The vessels may be of glass or other material with a vitreous coating, and the inner surfaces of the walls, including the portions united by the bonding material, are silvered. The bonding material may be first applied to a strip of fabric 8 which is wrapped round the neck of the inner wall. The inner wall is then pressed into the outer wall and the vessel is subjected to heat treatment, after which the alloy is applied. A hollow glass or like stopper has a stepped rim 13 seating over a ledge 12 of the inner wall. The rim may be recessed as at 13<a>, Fig. 2, to engage a bead 12a of the ledge. A knob part 14 is secured to the body by a joint 16 concealed by a swelling 15. The interior of the stopper is rendered opaque by silvering. The outer wall may have decorative panels.
