Abstract
A mounting plate 1 for location at the level of the roof 2 is provided with anchoring means and carries at its ends optical sets or assemblies. The latter comprise one or more electrical lamps electrically coupled to the electrical system of the vehicle, in such a way as to reproduce the stop and/or directional and/or parking lights thereof. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Motor vehicle light system
The present invention relates to an auxiliary light device or "lug", effective to be applied on motor vehicles.
As is well known, motor vehicles are provided with rear optical sets or assemblies, comprising the parking iights or lamps, the stop lights and the directional lights or indicators.
Also well known is the fact that the mentioned rear light sets are located in the lower portion of the vehicle body, and more specifically, at the side corners.
Accordingly it will be clear that, in the case in which several vehicles ride in a column, as the driver of the head vehicle actuates the brakes, the relating signalling, provided by the stop lights, may be detected only by the driver of the next following vehicle.
In fact the drivers of the following vehicles are not able of detecting the stop signalling since it is concealed by the immediately preceding vehicle.
In actual practice, therefore, the time period between the intervention of the first driver and the detecting of the performed intervention or action by the driver or the last vehicle of the column, exclusively depends on the reflex quickness of the intermediate drivers.
It will be also evident that, notwithstanding an optimum reflex quickness by the drivers, in the case of a high speed ride, the vehicles of the column may dangerously approach one another, with the consequent possibility of bumpings.
On the other hand, signal repeating devices are known which are located in the inside of the vehicle, at the level of the rear window and on the two sides thereof.
The mentioned signal repeating devices, however, are easily susceptible to loose the proper attitude, thereby failing in providing there specific function.
Moreover those same signal repeating devices, because of their particular location, originate dangerous reflections which may disturb the drivers of the following vehicles, through the rearview mirror.
Accordingly, the task of the present invention is to overcome the thereinabove mentioned drawbacks by providing an auxiliary light device or lug, effective to be applied on motor vehicles, which is also effective to allow for the possible light signallings from a first vehicle to be easily detected by one or more of the drivers of the following vehicles.
Within the scope of the thereinabove mentioned task, it is a main object of the present invention to provide an auxiliary light device or lug, effective to be applied on motor vehicles, which is effective to hold, under any conditions, a perfectly stable attitude.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary light device or lugs, effective to be applied on motor vehicles, which does not produce any dangerous reflections for the drivers of the following vehicles.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an auxiliary light device or lug, effective to be applied on motor vehicles, which is formed by a reduced number of component parts, mutually cooperating, effective to provide an extremely safe and practical set or assembly for the user.
The task and objects thereinabove mentioned, as well as yet other objects which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by an auxiliary light device provided for application on motor vehicles, characterized in that it comprises a section of suitable length provided with anchoring means and including, at the ends thereof, corresponding optical sets or assemblies.
Advantageously the mentioned optical sets or assemblies are effective to reproduce, from an exclusively functional standpoint, the rear optical sets or assemblies of the vehicles, and they may comprise one or more lamps, as suitably coupled to the vehicle electric system, in such a way as to reproduce the stop and/or directional and/or parking lights of the vehicle.
The mentioned section, moreover, can have a cross-section of any suitable shapes, possibly effective to provide said section with predetermined particular functional characteristics.
In this connection, infact, it is possible to form, in one or more surfaces of the section, concave surfaces, suitably oriented or directed with respect to the vehicle ride direction, thereby said section is also effective to act as a spoiler; alternatively substantially vertically extending slots may be formed, effective to convey air on the rear window.
The mentioned section, equipped as aforesaid, is preferably anchored at the rear window top portion, with a horizontal attitude.
Obviously that same section may also be fixed, either directly or by using suitable supporting elements, on the roof of the motor vehicle.
Brief Description of the Drawing
Further characteristics and advantages of the auxiliary light device or lug, effective to be applied on motor vehicles, according to the present invention, will become more apparent hereinafter by the following description of a possible embodiment thereof, being illustrated, by way of an indicative example in the accompanying drawing, where:
Fig. 1 illustrates the subject auxiliary light device or lug as applied on the top portion of the rear window of a motor vehicle.
Description of the Preferred Embodiment
With reference to the number of the aforesaid figure, the auxiliary light device or lug effective to be applied on motor vehicles according to the present invention, comprises a section 1, having a length related to the length of the roof 2 of the motor vehicle thereon the section has to be mounted.
That section, which is made of suitable materials effective to resist against the atmospheric agents, is obviously provided with suitable anchoring means and comprises, at the ends thereof, corresponding optical sets or assemblies 3.
The latter comprise one or more lamps, which are coupled, by conductor wires or cables, to the power supply of the parking and/or directional lights of the vehicle.
From the above disclosure and the figures of the accompanying drawing, the great functionality and use facility characterizing the auxiliary light device or lug, effective to be applied to motor vehicle, according to the present invention, will be self-evident.
Claims (5)
1. An auxiliary light device provided for application on motor vehicles, characterized in that it comprises a section of suitable length provided with anchoring means and including, at the ends thereof, corresponding optical sets of assemblies.
2. An auxiliary light device, according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said optical sets or assemblies reproduce, either partially or completely, from an exclusively functional standpoint, the rear optical sets of a motor vehicle, said sets comprising one or more lamps electrically coupled to the electrical system of said vehicle, in such a way as to be able of reproducing the stop and/or directional and/or parking lights thereof.
3. An auxiliary lights device, according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that said section is provided with any suitable cross-section shape, possibly effective to provide said section with determined functional characteristics.
4. An auxiliary light device, according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that said section is preferably anchored on the top of the rear window of said vehicle, with a horizontal attitude, or it is fixed, either directly or by means of suitable supporting elements, on the roof of said vehicle.
5. Auxiliary light device substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
