Abstract

A bracket, for suspending a telephone handpiece from a wall when the user wishes to put down the handpiece without ringing off the call, is a rigid body defining a receptacle shaped to conform with at least a portion of the handpiece and is so constructed as to be capable of suspension from a wall. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A bracket for a telephone handpiece The present invention relates to a bracket for a telephone handpiece in particular for use with a wall-mounted telephone.
According to the present invention there is provided a bracket for a telephone handpiece comprising a rigid body defining a receptacle shaped so as to conform to at least a portion of a telephone handpiece and means to enable the suspension of the bracket from a wall.
Preferably, the receptacle is shaped so as to conform to the outer profile of an ear-piece of a telephone handpiece. Alternatively, the receptacle may be shaped so as to conform to the outer profile of a mouth-piece of a telephone handpiece.
Preferably also, said means comprise a flat surface forming part of the rigid body in order to permit the attachment of the bracket to a wall by use of an adhesive. Alternatively, said means comprise a hole to enable the bracket to be attached to a wall by a nail or screw.
An example of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a front view of a bracket according to the invention, and Figure2 is a cross-section on the line ll-ll of Figure 1.
The bracket comprises a rigid body 1 made from any suitable material such as plastics or resin and is moulded or configured to define a receptable 2 which is shaped to conform to the outer profile of at least part of a telephone handpiece. In this example, the receptacle is configured to the shape of the ear-piece of a telephone handpiece. The receptacle is defined by a substantially U-shaped wall surface 3 which is also curved in cross-section (Figure 2) so that it follows closely the rounded shape of a telephone ear-piece.
In order to enable the bracket to be attached to a wall, the body is provided with a flat surface 4 which can rest against a wall and be secured thereto by adhesive. Alternatively, a hole 5 can be provided to enable the bracket to be secured by a nail or screw.
In use, the bracket is secured to a wall close to a telephone and is adapted to hold the handpiece during a telephone call if the telephone user finds that the handpiece must be put down without wanting to ring of the call. It will be appreciated that the bracket is of particular use for wall-mounted telephones where it can be located adjacent to the main telephone apparatus.
CLAIMS (Filed on 20/10/82) 1. A bracket for a telephone handpiece comprising a rigid body defining a receptacle shaped so as to conform to at least a portion of a telephone handpiece and means to enable the suspension of the bracket from a wall.
