Description
SPECIFICATION
Intersecting single-head drawer device with a bobbin output and with a sliver guide helical twister
This invention relates to an intersecting singlehead sliver drawing device with a bobbin output and a helical sliver guide.
It is known that in the case of finishing singlehead drawing devices with a bobbin output, the sliver or slubbing or roving emerging from the calender rolls of the drawing device must be subjected to a so-called "compensation" operation and to a subsequent "false twisting" operation before winding on the spindle of the bobbin former.
This compensation is necessary in order to take into account the variation in the distance separating the bobbin being formed from the output of the rotary funnel provided with an internal bearing which is displaced with an alternating rectilinear movement in a direction parallel to that of the spindle of the bobbin former.
The "false twisting" is carried out on the sliver so that the latter maintains a circular section which is required so that the subsequent so-called operation of "thinning out" may be performed without difficulty.
The devices which perform the "compensation" and the "false twisting" are relatively complicated and subject to harmful inertia effects, as a result of which they are entirely adapted to fast drawer devices, and are naturally relatively costly.
The present invention is designed to remedy these drawbacks by providing a single-head intersecting drawing device with a bobbin output, in which the compensation and the false twisting of the sliver may be accomplished by simple means, designed for the case in which the bobbin is formed at high speed, which are inexpensive.
In accordance with the present invention, this is achieved by providing a single-head intersecting drawing device with a bobbin output which is characterised in that the sliver-guide device interposed between the output calender roll of the drawing device and the drive roller cooperating with the winding spindle of the bobbin is constituted by a round metal bar shaped as a helix, fixed to a slider which is slidably mounted on a guide parallel to the axis of the drive roll and to that of the winding spindle.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a practical embodiment which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. lisa diagrammatic side elevation of the drawing device of the invention,
Figs. 2 and 3 are perspective views which show some details of the sliver-guide device of the drawing device shown in Fig. 1, and
Fig. 4 is an exploded perspective view which shows details of the control of the alternating movement of the slider supporting the helix element of the sliver guide device.
In the drawing (Fig. 1) there is diagrammatically shown an intersecting drawing device 1 and the respective output calender roll 2. A sliver-guide device 3 is located in the vicinity of the drive roller 4 of the winding spindle 5. The sliver-guide device comprises a twister element which includes a so-called "funnel" constituted by a split ring 6 to which there is fixed one end of a round bar 7 shaped as a helix and having a zero internal diameter. The other end of the round bar 7 is connected by welding to a condenser 8 with a central through hole. This hole has a section 9 of constant diameter which opens out towards the end of the twister element opposite the funnel 6 and which communicates with a section 10 having a diameter increasing in the direction of the funnel itself.
The sliver, or roving, or slubbing 11 which is discharged from the calender roll 2 is inserted in the funnel via the lateral slot 1 2 of the ring 6 and is therefore wound on the round helical bar 7 and caused to pass via the condenser 8 onto the periphery of the drive roll and finally onto the periphery of the spindle 5 or the bobbin being formed.
The condenser 8 has a conical end portion 13 and a cylindrical section 9 which is maintained fixed by a clamp comprising two elements, 14 and 1 5 respectively, which are connected by screws 1 6. The portion 14 of the clamp is in its turn fixed, by means of the screws 17, to the end portion of a bracket 8 which is downwardly inclined. The latter projects in the direction of the drive roll 4 by means of a slider 19 which slides along the cylindrical bar 20 parallel to the axis of the drive roll 4 and is guided at the top by a guide bar 21 of circular cross-section (Fig. 2).
The body of the slider 19 is constructed at the rear of the bracket 1 8 with a vertical guide 22 in which the rollers 23 engage. These rollers are rotatably mounted on the horizontal pin 24 projecting from a lever 25 supported by the controlled rotary shaft 26.
By means of this mechanism, the slider 19 performs alternating rectilinear movements in the direction of the arrow 27 as required for the formation of the bobbin on the spindle 5.
The spindle 5 is spring mounted on the arm 28 displaced by the spring 29 in a direction such as to maintain the spindle 5 in contact with the drive roller 4.
The sliver-guide device of the invention provided with the particular helical twister described above provides the sliver 11 emerging from the calender roll of the drawing device with the required twisting immediately upstream of the winding roller 4 of the bobbin former.
This prevents false drawing actions due to the differences present between the paths of the sliver during the rectilinear alternating movement of the twister in the direction of the axis of the drive roller 4. The presence of the helical twister enables the sliver to be provided, using extremely simple means, with the false twisting required in order to ensure that the sliver constantly wound on the spindle has a circular section, thereby eliminating the danger of so-called "marriages", i.e. connections or combinations of sliver sections which are adjacent one another during the subsequent operation of "thinning out" of the bobbin.
These results are obtained by simultaneously making possible a substantial increase in the speed of winding of the bobbin with respect to conventional systems, and by using in connection with this the possibilities of modern drawing devices.
The sliver obtained has, in addition, a greater uniformity with respect to that obtained with conventional systems, and there are fewer malfunctions due to breakages of the sliver as a result of the simplication of the path of the sliver between the output of the drawer device and the zone in which the bobbin is formed.
