Abstract

Perforated loose leaves are mounted on posts (17) of a channel section holder (11) and the holder (11) is releasably retained in a casing (10). The holder (11) is retained within the casing (10) by a projection (18) which engages an aperture (13) provided in the casing (10). The limb (16) of the holder (11) is resiliently deformable to allow the projection (18) to be disengaged from the aperture (13) in order to enable the holder (11) to be removed from the casing (10). The leaves may be placed within cover (12) or the holder limbs (15, 16) may be extended to form covers for the leaves. Three leaf- retaining holders can be positioned in a single casing. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Holder for loose leaves This invention relates to a holder for loose leaves such as loose leaves of paper forming a writing pad or loose leaves for carrying photographic prints.

According to the present invention there is provided a holder for loose leaves, comprising a hollow casing open along one side face and a channel section holder member received within said casing with the open side of the holder member facing outwardly, said holder member being provided with posts extending between the limbs of the holder member, at least one of the limbs of the holder member being movable away from the posts to enable perforated leaves to be mounted on the posts, one of said limbs of the holder being provided on its outer side with a projection engaged in an aperture provided in a wall portion of the casing to retain the holder member in the casing, said one limb provided with the projection being resiliently deformable to enable the projection to be moved out of the aperture to allow the holder member to be removed from the casing.

Two embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of examples, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the constituent parts of a holder according to the present invention, Figure 2 is a cross section through the holder of Figure 1 with the parts assembled, Figure 3 is a transverse cross-section through the holder member of Figures 1 and 2 with the posts divided to receive perforated leaves, and Figure 4 is a perspective view of the constituent parts of a second embodiment of a holder according to the present invention.

The loose leaf holder shown in Figures 1 to 3 comprises a hollow casing 10 which is open along one side face, a holder member 11 and a cover member 12.

The casing 10 is preferably formed of a plastics material and has an aperture 13 provided in one of its wall portions. The holder member 11 is of channel section having a base 14 and limbs 1 5 and 1 6. Extending between the limbs 1 5 and 16 are posts 17 which are formed in two parts 1 7a and 1 7b, the part 1 7a being fixed to the limb 1 5 and the part 1 7b being fixed to the limb 14 and the two parts 1 7a, 1 7b being held together in a detachable manner. The dimensions of the holder member 11 are such that it can be received within the casing 10.The limb 1 6 is provided on its outer side with a projection 1 8 which when the holder member 11 is received within the casing 10 is engaged with the aperture 13 and serves to retain the holder member 11 within the casing 10. The holder member 11 is received within the cover member 12 which is provided with a recess 1 9 to enable the projection 1 8 to engage the aperture 1 3. Loose leaves 20 which are perforated along one edge are mounted on the posts 17 and can be removed therefrom when the holder 11 has been removed from the casing 10 and the post parts 1 7a, 1 7b separated.

The holder 11 is removed by pushing down the projection 18 which will cause the limb 1 6 to be resiliently deformed and allow the projection 1 8 to clear the aperture 1 3 so that the holder 11 can then be pulled out of the casing 10.

It will be appreciated that the cover member 12 can be dispensed with and the limbs 1 5, 1 6 of the member 11 can be extended to form a cover for the leaves 20. The post part 1 7a can be hollow or partly hollow and there may be more than two posts 17.

The embodiment shown in Figure 4 has a hollow casing 10 which internally is divided by walls 21 into three compartments 22, 23 and 24 each of which receives a holder member 11 and each compartment has an associated aperture 1 3 in its upper wall. The embodiment of Figure 4 is provided with three sets of perforated leaves arranged side by side, each set being engaged with the posts 1 7 of a holder member 11. Cover members 12 can be provided or the limbs 1 5, 1 6 of the members 11 can be extended to form covers for the leaves.

The leaves 20 may form writing pads or comprise leaves for carrying photographic prints.

1. A holder for loose leaves, comprising a hollow casing open along one side face and a channel section holder member received within said casing with the open side of the holder member facing outwardly, said holder member being provided with posts extending between the limbs of the holder member, at least one of the limbs of the holder member being movable away from the posts to enable perforated leaves to be mounted on the posts, one of said limbs of the holder member being provided on its outer side with a projection engaged in an aperture provided in a wall portion of the casing to retain the holder member in the casing, said one limb provided with the projection being resiliently deformable to enable the projection to be moved out of the aperture to allow the holder member to be removed from the casing.

2. A holder for loose leaves as claimed in claim 1, in which the limbs of the holder member are extended to form a cover for the loose leaves.

3. A holder for loose leaves as claimed in claim 1 , including a substantially U-section cover member for the loose leaves which extends around the holder member and whose base portion is received within the casing.

4. A holder for loose leaves as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the posts are hollow or partly hollow and said at least one of the limbs of the holder member is provided on its inner side with projections each of which engages a said post.

SPECIFICATION Holder for loose leaves This invention relates to a holder for loose leaves such as loose leaves of paper forming a writing pad or loose leaves for carrying photographic prints. According to the present invention there is provided a holder for loose leaves, comprising a hollow casing open along one side face and a channel section holder member received within said casing with the open side of the holder member facing outwardly, said holder member being provided with posts extending between the limbs of the holder member, at least one of the limbs of the holder member being movable away from the posts to enable perforated leaves to be mounted on the posts, one of said limbs of the holder being provided on its outer side with a projection engaged in an aperture provided in a wall portion of the casing to retain the holder member in the casing, said one limb provided with the projection being resiliently deformable to enable the projection to be moved out of the aperture to allow the holder member to be removed from the casing. Two embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of examples, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the constituent parts of a holder according to the present invention, Figure 2 is a cross section through the holder of Figure 1 with the parts assembled, Figure 3 is a transverse cross-section through the holder member of Figures 1 and 2 with the posts divided to receive perforated leaves, and Figure 4 is a perspective view of the constituent parts of a second embodiment of a holder according to the present invention. The loose leaf holder shown in Figures 1 to 3 comprises a hollow casing 10 which is open along one side face, a holder member 11 and a cover member 12. The casing 10 is preferably formed of a plastics material and has an aperture 13 provided in one of its wall portions. The holder member 11 is of channel section having a base 14 and limbs 1 5 and 1 6. Extending between the limbs 1 5 and 16 are posts 17 which are formed in two parts 1 7a and 1 7b, the part 1 7a being fixed to the limb 1 5 and the part 1 7b being fixed to the limb 14 and the two parts 1 7a, 1 7b being held together in a detachable manner. The dimensions of the holder member 11 are such that it can be received within the casing 10.The limb 1 6 is provided on its outer side with a projection 1 8 which when the holder member 11 is received within the casing 10 is engaged with the aperture 13 and serves to retain the holder member 11 within the casing 10. The holder member 11 is received within the cover member 12 which is provided with a recess 1 9 to enable the projection 1 8 to engage the aperture 1 3. Loose leaves 20 which are perforated along one edge are mounted on the posts 17 and can be removed therefrom when the holder 11 has been removed from the casing 10 and the post parts 1 7a, 1 7b separated. The holder 11 is removed by pushing down the projection 18 which will cause the limb 1 6 to be resiliently deformed and allow the projection 1 8 to clear the aperture 1 3 so that the holder 11 can then be pulled out of the casing 10. The leaves 20 may form writing pads or comprise leaves for carrying photographic prints. CLAIMS

5. A holder for loose leaves as claimed in any preceding claim, in which two or more holders are provided in side-by-side relationship within the casing.

6. A holder for loose leaves as claimed in claim 5, in which the casing is divided into two or more compartments, each compartment being provided with a holder member.

7. A holder for loose leaves as claimed in any preceding claim, in which the casing and holder member are formed of plastics material.

8. A holder for loose leaves substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in Figures 1 to 3 or Figure 4 of the accompanying drawings.
