Abstract

A support 10 for fixing a hinge to a furniture part, comprising a base plate 11 arranged for fixing to said part, and a slider 12 constrained in a slack and transversely slidable manner within a seat in said plate, said slider 12 being traversed by a threaded through bore 20 designed to receive a hinge fixing screw 21, said screw locking the slider 12 within its seat by reacting against the base plate 11. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Support for fixing a hinge to a furniture part This invention relates to a support for fixing a hinge to a furniture part, for example a door or the like.
As is well known to experts in this field, supports of the aforesaid type must enable the hinge to be fixed in such a manner that it can be adjusted longitudinally and transversely in a first plane containing the hinge, and be adjusted in depth in a second plane perpendicular to the first.
The object of this invention is to provide a support of very simple and economical construction which is able to satisfy the aforesaid requirements.
This object is attained according to the invention by a support characterised by comprising a base plate arranged for fixing to said part, and a slider constrained in a slack and transversely slidable manner within a seat in said plate, said slider being traversed by a threaded through bore designed to receive a hinge fixing screw, said screw locking the slider within its seat by reacting against the base plate.
Preferably, said seat consists of a cavity into which there is inserted a pair of feet extending laterally from the slider, said feet being surmounted by a pair of respective teeth rigid with the plate, the facing surfaces of the teeth and feet being tapered.
The structural said operational characteristics of the invention and its advantages will be apparent from the description given hereinafter by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view illustrating a hinge support constructed according to the invention; Figure 2 is a plan view; and Figure 3 is a section on the line Ill--Ill of Figure 2.
With reference to the drawings, the support according to the invention is indicated overall by the reference numeral 10, and is formed structurally from a plane 11 to which a slider 12 is constrained.
The slider 12 is housed in a cavity 13 in the plate 11 and constrained therein in a slack manner, i.e. able to translate relatively widely in the directions of the arrow 14 in the same horizontal plane as the plate 11 (Figure 1), and to move to a limited extent in a plane perpendicular to the plate 11 in the directions of the arrow 1 5 (Figure 3).
Said constraint is obtained by means of a pair of opposing teeth 1 6 formed from the plate 11, which surmount a pair of relative feet 1 7 extending laterally from the slider 12. The facing surfaces 18, of the teeth 16 and feet 17 respectively are tapered over the region which will be apparent hereinafter.
As is clearly illustrated on the drawings, the slider 12 is dome-shaped, and is traversed by a threaded through bore 20 into which there is screwed a screw 21 designed to cooperate with a surface 22 of the base plate 11, and which serves for fixing to this latter a partly shown hinge indicated by 23.
It is therefore apparent that after having centred the hinge longitudinally by moving the slot 24 relative to the head of the screw 21, and transversely by sliding the slider 12, the tapered surfaces 1 8,1 9 can be clamped together by tightening the screw 21, thus securely locking the slider 12 on the plate 11.
The purpose of the screw 25 of the hinge 23 is to adjust the depth of the hinge in a plane perpendicular to that containing the plate 1 1 in known manner, by acting on one of the teeth 1 6.
This adjustment must obviously be made before finally tightening the screw 21.
The fixing support for furniture hinges according to the invention also comprises grooved zones 27 at the passage bores 26 for the furniture door fixing screws, in order to securely anchor the hinge 23, as shown in Figure 3.
1. A support for fixing a hinge to a furniture part, characterised by comprising a base plate arranged for fixing to said part, and a slider constrained in a slack and transversely slidable manner within a seat in said plate, said slider being traversed by a threaded through bore designed to receive a hinge fixing screw, said screw locking the slider within its seat by reacting against the base plate.
2. A support as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that said seat consists of a cavity into which there is inserted a pair of feet extending laterally from the slider, said feet being surmounted by a pair of respective teeth rigid with the plate, the facing surfaces of the teeth and feet being tapered.
3. A support as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that said slider is dome-shaped.
