Abstract

A scraper-cleaner for cleaning kitchen-ware has a body (1) with a flat bottom wall (1a) and upstanding walls (1b) on three sides with inturned flanges (4) on the walls (1b) so that a handle can be received therein and on the fourth side a heel (2) with a counterstep (2a) to form a latch to prevent undesired removal of the handle. A raised projecting front piece (3) is provided on the body (1) to allow scraping of food residues from kitchen-ware. A spongy element may be fitted to the underside of bottom wall (1a). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Scraper-cleaner for domestic use The invention relates to a scraper-cleaner for domestic use for effecting more energetic actions than a simple rubbing action for cleaning kitchen ware, burnt-on food residues on which cannot be removed with a simple soapy action, and thus require a pre-wash scraping which cannot be done with the means currently used.
Cleaners or scourers are known which, by means of a hollow handle, can be used for scouring by a spongy head which is selfmoistened, by soapy water contained in the handle and passing through holes in the body of the scourer, but in all the previously proposed solutions the fitting of the spongy head is effect by means of a simple wedge-type connection of the head with the end of the hollow handle, which is satisfactory for slight forces required for a rubbing action but is unsuitable when greater forces are required, as in the case of scrapers.
According to the invention there is provided a scraper-cleaner for domestic use comprising a scraper head having a body with a flat bottom wall provided with through holes and to which can be fitted, as may be appropriate, a spongy sheet, upstanding walls projecting from the bottom wall on three sides thereof and having inwardly projecting flanges at their free edges leaving free one of the shorter sides at which a heel is provided with a counterstep which allows joining or connection, by lateral guidance on the upstanding walls and retention by means of the flanges on said three sides, of the end of a handle container which is firmly secured through the action of a catch or latch arrangement formed by the heel, the counterstep of which prevents rearward disengagement of the handle from the head, and wherein, at the side of the body opposite said shorter side, a raised projecting front piece is provided of a curved shape of ample radius to enable surfaces of kitchen ware to be scraped by the scraper-cleaner.
The invention is diagrammatically illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 is an elevation of a scraper-cleaner according to the invention; Figure 2 is a sectional view on line Il-Il of Fig. 1; and Figure 3 is an end view of the front of the scraper-cleaner of Figs. 1 and 2.
Referring to the drawing, a scraper head of a scraper-cleaner has a body 1 with a flat bottom wall 1 a and upstanding walls 1 b at three edges thereof and, at a rear edge, a heel 2 with a counter-step 2a of such a shape that the end of a handle (not shown) can be engaged in the body 1, guided by the upstanding walls 1 b and passing beneath inwardly extending flanges 4 provided on the walls 1 b, to be secured by the counterstep 2a which prevents undesired extraction. The body 1 is provided with a projecting front piece 3 with a curved section of ample radius to facilitate scraping of rounded kitchen ware; the scraping action thereof, which is a vigorous action in some cases, being permitted by the secure connection between the scraping head and the handle, without which proper functioning would be impossible.
The body 1 has in its bottom wall 1 a a central aperture 5 and a front aperture 6 which permit and admit, if it is so desired, fitting a spongy element to the underside of the body 1 and supplementing the scraping action with another cleaner using soapy water coming from the handle, without that being necessary but rather as an alternative.
1. A scraper-cleaner for domestic use comprising a scraper head having a body with a flat bottom wall provided with through holes and to which can be fitted, as may be appropriate, a spongy sheet, upstanding walls projecting from the bottom wall on three sides thereof and having inwardly projecting flanges at their free edges leaving free one of the shorter sides at which a heel is provided with a counterstep which allows joining or connection, by lateral guidance on the upstanding walls and retention by means of the flanges on said three sides, of the end of a handle container which is firmly secured through the action of a catch or latch arrangement formed by the heel, the counterstep of which prevents rearward disengagement of the handle from the head, and wherein at the side of the body opposite said shorter side, a raised projecting front piece is provided of a curved shape of ample radius to enable surfaces of kitchenware to be scraped by the scraper-cleaner.
2. A scraper-cleaner for domestic use substantially as hereinbefore described and illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawing.
