Abstract

209,991. Heath, A. E. March 17, 1923. Signals.-An open-bottomed base 1 which will stand in a saucepan &c. carries a tube 4 with a whistle &c. at the top and, in the modified form illustrated, is provided, in addition, with means for delaying the sounding of the whistle until the water has been boiling for a predetermined time. This latter device comprises a condenser which, as shown, is formed by a partition 5 through which passes a steam coil 8, but may be merely a box-like steam chamber. The initial steam is thus condensed in heating the water in the condenser, thereby delaying the action of the whistle for a time depending on the amount of water inserted in the condenser. The device, is suitable for use when cooking eggs.
