Abstract
A safety rubber boot comprises a toe-cap reinforcement 10, a reinforced sole 11, a heel 12, an upper 13 and a leg 14. To eliminate the rigidity and heaviness of metallic shin protection inserts, the front of the boot is provided with rubber shin protection in the form of transversely extending ribbing 17. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Safety working boots
The invention relates to safety working boots made e.g. of rubber.
Several labour safety rubber boots are known, the common characteristic of which is that they have toe-protecting and sole-protecting inserts or overlays and in given cases they are provided with shin-bone protection as well.
The toe protection, the so-called 'steel cap', protects the toes against objects falling on them accidentally while the purpose of the sole protection insert, generally made of steel plate, is to protect the sole against nails and other sharp pointed objects. The shin-bone protecting means protects the feet and shin-bone against impact effects.
A drawback of the known boots is that the shin-bone protecting steel band is arranged parallel to the front part of the boots thus rendering them too rigid against bending during walking, consequently walking in such boots is tiring. A further deficiency is that the shin-bone protecting steel band greatly increases the weight of the boots.
The known safety working boots are made of rubber by a technology using rigid inserts, wherein the lining is pulled over an internal rigid insert on which the rubber parts of the boots are fixed, then a vulcanization process is carried out by pressing heatable external tool parts together, i.e. by the combined use of pressure and heat.
The invention aims at eliminating or reducing the disadvantages of known safety rubber boots, and to provide boots which afford satisfactory shin-bone protection while reducing or eliminating resistance of the shin-bone protecting means against bending.
The aim is sought to be achieved by means of safety working boots, in which each boot has a toe-protecting insert, a sole protecting insert, and shin-bone protecting means formed approximately perpendicularly to the front component of the boot as sawtooth-like rib.
Preferably, the sawtooth-like rib is connected to the toe-cap reinforcing part covering the toe protecting insert.
The invention is described in detail with the aid of the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side view of a safety boot according to the invention, and
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of the safety boot shown in Figure 1.
As shown in the drawings the safety working boot, made preferably of a rubber (natural or synthetic),has a toe-cap reinforcing part 10, a sole 1 1; a heel 12, a front or upper boot portion 13 and a leg 14. The toe-cap reinforcing part 10 covers a toe protecting insert 1 5 formed from steel plate and is fixed - in this case by welding -- to a sole-protecting insert 1 6, which is similarly formed from steel plate.
The boot also has a shin-bone protecting part, formed as sawtooth-like rubber ribbing 1 7. The sawtooth-like rubber ribbing 1 7 consists of ribs extending approximately perpendicular (transversely) to the front components 1 8 of the boot.
The safety boots according to the invention may be produced with apparatus provided with an expandable internal form, where this expandable internal form is shaped, for instance, from rubber as a so-called 'rubber leg', and its interior is connected with a source of pressure providing a pressure of about 20 bar. The external form may be a rigid press-form which is electrically heated during vulcanization. Thus vulcanization of the rubber parts of the rubber boots is carried out with the simultaneous use of heat and pressure, but the necessary pressure is ensured by the pressure conducted into the interior of the rubber leg.
The main advantage of the safety rubber boots according to the preferred embodiment of the invention is that the shin-bone protecting part formed as sawtooth-like rubber ribbing 1 7 does not prevent the bending of the boots, i.e. it does not appreciably diminish the flexibility of the leg, hence wearing of the boots is less tiring. In view of the fact that this shin-bone protecting part is formed not from steel plate, but from a rubber band placed into the press along the front component 1 8 of the rubber boots, the weight of the safety boots according to the invention is less than that of known boots.
The invention is also applicable to shoes.
Claims
